I have to say Essex is a beautiful part of the world. Everything is fresh and green. I'm based in Colchester, which is a lovely place. Clean, tidy and not too congested, and surrounded by lovely rolling green hills and fields. It leaves for dead the dinghy, grimy south-western parts of London that I previously stayed in the visit the sprog.

Essex folk seem fairly committed to their appearance. Every 2nd shop seems to be a beauty shop or hairdresser. Most seem keen to look like a "beautiful person", with nary a hair out of place or misapplied make-up.

Dimuth Karunaratne made 158* and 60 in the recent 1st Test SL v SAf at Galle. These were the only two scores above 50 in the match. This was only the 3rd time in Test history (in a Test with 4 completed innings) that this feat has occurred. When were the other 2?

Nup. We won both those Tests by an innings so only 3 completed innings.

MtFTB made 119 in the 1st Test and 89 in the 2nd Test.

I know it isn’t right but I’d like to mention George Ulyett's performance in the Second ever test at Melbourne in 1877. Only 36 wickets fell during the match.

Aye W. Ulyett made the only two 50s of the match (52 & 63) in a match England won by 4 wkts.

I should point out that the other 2 instances are also a 100 and 50, like Karu.

He made 112 at Lords in 1997 in Aus's only innings (7d-213) in a rain-affected draw. This was Pidgy's match were he took 8-38 to rout England for 77. The Poms made 4d-266 in their 2nd dig with Butcher making 87 and Athers 77. So it doesn't qualify on a number of points.

I've got nothing.

I checked every scorecard through the 60s & couldn't see any examples. I must have missed it unless there was a mistake in the book I used.

I can assure you there IS a scorecard in the 60s that fits the bill.

Hint:  "A completed innings" doesn't have to be all 10 wickets. If a team scores the necessary runs to win the match, that innings is deemed completed by virtue of the match finishing.
