Agreed. They need to also be able to operate on a  counter cyclical basis, inc pump priming when necessary - eg the GFC.

Fark, I'm glad you two aren't my accountants. Shocked

Is this an early Pinko "excuse" for Shortarse running us into even more massive world debt over the next 8 years??

Phurt.

Perhaps some veracity behind your claims might be appropriate.

You seem to forget we had no national debt in 2006, but thanks to Krudd/Vulture/Krudd we ended up in massive debt, something that will take forever to turn around.

Yet you and Q say "fark that, let's spend like crazy pinkos always do, cos fark the foreign debt".

Your "I agree" to Qmy's erroneous claim re: surpluses smacked of fan boy Pinko fawning.

Really h???

Tis is simple statement of fact. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with a surplus or deficit as long as they are not out of hand.

For example when the economy is booming and there is risk of inflation you rake in the taxes and give less back. You can use this in combo with monetary policies to slow it down. When the GFC hit (of course caused by banks and capos) Oz did the right thing by pump priming.

In an age of globalisation it is harder for all nation states to keep on top of things (this is one of the well springs of right wing nativism). Few nation States have budgets in surplus and most are in deficit, though this is no biggie unless it is out of control.

Personally I have no difficulty with a bit of intergenerational debt where is debt is incurred on infrastructure future gens will benefit from.

And there in lies the problem with Pinko Govts, h. They spend all of their deficits on social welfare NOT infrastructure. So what's left is a population of Olivers saying "please sir, can I have some more". Pinko Govts are notorious for their attitude of "we can spend like idiots for 8 years and leave it to the Libs to clean it up for us".

Ergo Frydenberg's accurate assertion about how long it has been since a Federal Pinko Govt last produced a surplus. Simple commonsense tells us that you cannot have an ever increasing deficit and not run your country into serious repayment difficulties.

The current NSW State Govt is a case in point. They have spent 8 years cleaning up the Pinkos' financial mismanagement and debt accumulation and got the Spiv State back into to surplus (i.e. we owe nobody nuffin) AS WELL AS having a massive infrastructure program underway. Now THAT is good government.

Social welfare as opposed to the massive middle class welfare Costello wasted the last mining boom on.

And regardless of the economics of Shorten's plans, he's so far effectively wedged Scohdear and Fraudenberg. Bit hard to attack spending on cancer.

Re: wedging, I totally agree, Q.

It's something that the Pinks do oh so much better than the Blues. Labor always campaigns way better and it shits me to tears.

Though it's a lost cause, I hope ScoMo gets down and dirty like the Pinks always do during campaigning.

I'm dreading the next 8-ish years of Shortarse and Plebiscite smarminess. Maybe Albo will take over when the Pinks get the arse somewhere between 2025 & 2027. At least he has some character and sincerity about him. Cool

Phurt.

He's an idiot Pinko. He'll spend himself into a hole, be forced to sting us with more tax, &/or attack the Super bucket, then cling on to power at the following election by a bee's dick.

Albo will be circling.

I can well imagine overwrought farmers saying exactly that at these smelly urban/rural iron-deficient terrorists.

huh .... many farmers are kulaks, over subsidised bilge putting their hands out for their own lifestyle choices.

... and Skully, I know from personal experience. I spent slabs of my childhood on a dairy farm and had an interest in a small family owned beef property. An ex Mrs Horace came off a station in Muttuburra.

No other sector of the economy has benefitted from government support.

Personally I favour nationalisation of farms or failing that increasing Chinese investment to enable more efficient management.

Aahh! Agrarian socialism. Where we we poor farmers be without it. Hehehe.

Actually apart from the Chinese crap my position isn't too far from yours. Tying up otherwise productive land for sentimental reasons makes no sense. Nor does calling drought a national disaster. But as usual no govt policy on most areas in particular water ( where the feds have some control) apart from dredging up century old and discredited land management plans.

Q, for an Android...

- Tap: Equivalent to left mouse click.
- Tap-and-hold (long press): Equivalent to right mouse click.
- One-finger drag:
......On the tablet, the one-finger tap-and-drag gesture can be used to select text, or to drag the scroll bar.
......On the phone, the one-finger tap-and-drag can be used to move files by dragging-and-dropping the desired files; or for operating the scroll bars.
- Two-finger tap: Toggle Trackpad mode. Trackpad mode is like the trackpad on a laptop computer, move a finger on iPad screen can move mouse everywhere and able to give left-click or right-click if necessary.
- Two-finger drag: Scroll window.
- Three-finger drag: On your tablet, a three-finger drag will pan the entire screen if it's been zoom in. For example, if the keyboard is open, this would allow you to view what is blocked by the keyboard.
- Two-finger pinch-zoom: Zooms in and out.
