Re: Current International One Day Cricket
It’s something of a shadow side with a few rested, and they’re not going to just go with youngsters... he’s not a “build for the future” player but a handy option to have, in T20 at least. Had a decent county season and travels well.Nath wrote:Dawid Malan is representing England again? even though it's only T20I, I figured he was discarded for good

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
The ICC playing conditions give the match referee - in this case Javagal Srinath - the discretion to reduce the interval to 10 minutes but that was not exercised.
Clause 11.4.2 of the playing conditions states: "... following a lengthy delay or interruption prior to the completion of the innings of the team batting first, the Match Referee may, at his discretion, reduce the interval between innings from 20 minutes to not less than 10 minutes."
---------
thanks Srinath, you stoopidhead!

Billings is an ordinary keeper. Foakes or Cox would have been better and you would still have got some handy lower order runs.

If we’re talking Tests, fair enough, but is it really worth playing a specialist keeper in T20?Basil wrote:beamer wrote:It’s something of a shadow side with a few rested, and they’re not going to just go with youngsters... he’s not a “build for the future” player but a handy option to have, in T20 at least. Billings is something of a utility man who’s been on the fringes for a few years as a batsman, and they’re probably just seeing what he’s like with the gloves in case we have the unlikely scenario of both Bairstow and Buttler being unavailable. Picking a keeper who is not otherwise in the plans for this format wouldn’t really serve much purpose.

Anyway, hadn’t realised this was a 5-match JAMITT series! They tend to be in the rocking horse shit category. I guess they’re not bothering much with 50-over cricket at this stage in the cycle so it’s barely worth flying specialists to Snoozia for 2 or 3 matches...

Saqib Mahmood showing some consistency here. Conceding 15 off his first over, the exact same figure as in his debut (the previous match vs NZ - he leaked 46 off his 4 overs).
Jimmy apart, yet another Lancashire crash-and-burn recruit to the national team(s) in recent years?
Lordy, I see Matt Parkinson's playing too, in this one .... *ducks*

Sounds a bit like his namesake Saj’s England debut...
AC making a case to stay in the frame, not sure too many others are at the moment.

They might at last have given Parky his four overs.

Malan seems to be playing himself into the W20202020 squad... 45-ball century!
Morgan not far behind him, and a handy start from Pato.

Ok, so which one is Pato?
Most obviously Brown, but he didn't achieve that much (DNB, 1-29 off 3), and it wasn't a start from him ...?

Banton, of course, for those with any memory of ‘90s reggae-pop...PeterCS wrote:Ok, so which one is Pato?

If you need a reminder of the original Pato’s talents...
Tom Banton’s dad Colin was playing for Notts around the time this was a hit, I remember we gave him the same nickname...

HTF did Pakistan get world top T20 ranking? I realize they have some new faces in their squad but they are playing like park cricketers. Last nights game was a joke.
Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Well, nobody really played any T20Is for about a year or so either side of the 50-over World Cup, so any rankings are pretty meaningless.Big Dog wrote:HTF did Pakistan get world top T20 ranking? Useful start by New Zealand.

Snoozers can’t catch a break against us in anything this year...
Tests might be a different story though, unless our youngsters really hit the ground running.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Remarkable that two teams, having tied a 50-over tournament and then tied the tiebreaker, should then manage even to tie a 20-over tournament of five matches.
What's going on?
(Yes, I know, LO cricket can't abide ties, and will break them, break and break them again - but the incredulity stands.)
