Fantasy Island might be a more suitable name. Wayne Pearce is and always was as thick as two short planks.
The crowdless games were a turnoff. Plus it would give an advantage to Sydney teams.

doesn't Gould only look out for Gould, or am I confusing him with someone else?

Yeah put a meathead ex player in charge. The players would jack up if an accountant was appointed coach. Gould brags that he was so hopeless managing that the only way he could afford a deposit on his first home was a TAB trifecta.

Indeed.
It didn't stop Raelene Castle lurching from Netball Aus, to the Bulldogs, to Aus Rugby.

Re: Rugby League 2020
NRL twit on the radio this am talking up resumption by 1 June and AFL working through a heap of options.
I reckon the A League soccer comp is cactus (standard is woeful anyway) and Rugby is not far behind.
There will be sfa local sponsorship money available to support local comps in all sports both in urban and rural areas.
Heard a story this am that Wimbledon has a 250M quid insurance cover against pandemics.

When I was regularly dealing with the qunts killer outbreaks and warlike situations were uninsurable. TF for industrial accidents and aircraft crashes in tplacs.
I think the actuaries deserve everything they have coming

Aye they lost me 50 years ago when they advised Ford it was cheaper not to recall a defective car because the cost of the payouts would be cheaper than the losses from not selling and recalling the vehicle. From memory Ralph Nader cut his teeth on the case.
In some ways our pollies are doing well, certainly compared to the US, Italy and the Poms (really high mortality rate among infected because of rubbish early testing v Germany). Still the pitch about the flattening the curve is about ability to flatten the curve to enable health systems to cope.
It is another mathematical exercise, this time by science.
The objective is simply to slow the spread over a longer period. Who knows gold might be struck with vaccines. i have listened to Drumpphhff about the anti malarial drug and upped my gin and tonic consumption.

Can't see the NRL's pie-in-the-sky restart date of May 28 being allowed by the authorities in Health and Govt.

Yeah a bunch of blokes who think date rape and dv are a nod to the good 'ol days and who regularly party outside team guidelines are the perfect group to give a bit of leeway to.

Six weeks hhmmmmnn. The govt is talking about thinking about easing the lockdown in extremely conservative stages. I suppose it is theoretically possible, but if vlandwit keeps getting all hairy chested about it the SCOcialist may well say take a walk.

Don't like her much either but if the attacks are coming from noted intellect, Brad Fittler, I wouldn't be losing too much sleep over it.

Apparently* the NZ Warriors have been cleared to fly to Aus readying for a late May start, but it may be a futile visit.
