Rugby League 2017
Ben Barba farks off to Frogtown
"Ben Barba signs contract to play for cashed-up French rugby club Toulon for remainder of Top 14 season.
THE NRL has taken a hardline stance against Ben Barba’s attempted defection to French rugby union and will insist he still serves his full 12-match suspension - a scenario the Cronulla Sharks fullback addressed by declaring he “might never play the game again”.
If Barba does opt to take up a contract with French Top 14 outfit Toulon, he won’t be rolled out the red carpet for an easy-ride welcome home on his return to Australia.
He will instead return in May with the full balance of his suspension, levelled for a positive cocaine test, still to be served - effectively wiping him out for the entire 2017 season.
“Ben does not have a registered contract with the NRL so he is free to make a decision to play in a different code with a new club,” NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg said.
“But the NRL will not consider any contract for registration until he has completed his contract with other sports.
“The match suspension he needs to serve will only begin after he has completed his playing commitments elsewhere.” "
---------------------------------------------------
Word is that he is dead broke and can't pay his bills. Funny how a rampant cocaine habit will do that to you.
He was on the box saying the NRL has given him nothing. Really? Nice to see Greenberg's hard line.
And on 2GB today, Mark Levy didn't hold back, basically waving Barba "good bye and good riddance" and that he's sick of poorly behaved sooks giving the sport he loves a bad reputation.

Good to see NRL back on the TV tonight.
The season opener was won by the Broncos defeating the Sharks 26 - 18.

Meanwhile, it looks like it'll be a long, ugly season for the Drags.

Aye. Not even sure that my pineapple for them to win the spoon will save them from the spoon.

So, who decided that the Bulldogs v Storm game should start so early?

Looks like they will be fighting the Bunnies for the spoon.
Re: Rugby League 2017
The Bails Footytips comp is still open for NRL & AFL if anyone wants to have a go.

Bunnies belted the Drags in the Charity Shield. My team might be lucky to win a game this season.

The line for the Panthers is -7.5. That has to be some kind of an invitation for a monster bet for them a few points above it.

They are still paying 1.49 on Betfair. just for the win. I have made an appropriate investment.
Meanwhile, Greg Inglis is out for 6 months so will miss SOO. Sportsbet still has the Bunnies paying $31 for the spoon.

I guess that's the scoreline you expect when the Premiership faves play the second faves for the spoon.
I am somewhat speechless though. Missed the game as I was taking Kjr1 to his golf lesson.

Cowboys score a try from a rebound off the underside of the crossbar when JT attempted a field goal.
Highlight of the match was possibly when Priest was sent to the sin-bin.

Cows win as JTs field goal rebounds of the cross bar and stops in goal for Cooper to win the race.
If there are more games like that and more Dragons wins it's going to be a cracker of a year.

Shame. I imagine you'd happily travel the world to caddy for him at 10% of $5 -10 Mill a year?
