Re: Corona Virus
An interesting article.
The link is in no way intended to downplay the current Covid-9 pandemic, but the average daily number of people dying from covid (albeit watered down a little by China and Russia's dodgy low numbers) equates to about the same number that die by suicide or HIV each day around the world.
50K folk die each day from heart dramas.

FMD, Nein Nooz just had a story in Sports saying CA is looking at dipping the ball regularly in disinfectant.
Anyone whose played the game knows that the constant addition of liquid turns a cricket ball into soap and it becomes unusable.
What geniuses are haunting CA ATM??

Re: Corona Virus
I can remember getting younger students to roll the ball in a puddle before throwing it back in, but then again I wasn't on camera. This takes ball tampering, match fixing, totally changing the game to a whole new level.

Re: Corona Virus
Ball tampering, or ball ruining??
I once took a michelle in the pouring rain. I was 15 or 16 (it was C-grade) and we we're all too young (even our 25 year old skipper - piss weak qunt) to get the ump to call the day off, so we just kept playing as it pissed down. We had players diving for the ball and causing a massive plume of spray. We all laughed. The only way I could grip the ball was to bowl off spin gripping across the slimy seam. I managed to get enough balls on target to jag a 5-fer.

Re: Corona Virus
I made the First XI at school because i got a soaked to ball to hoop in late in the trial game
We played the game on a synthetic pitch because the school gardener had watered all four turf blocks and all the synthetics. we played on the driest pitch but the ball was waterlogged when I got a bowl
It hooped in with great conf before I even half understood what that meant ....and I still mightnt understand it ...
A couple of LBs , a couple of bowleds and a batsman with a broken hand

Played my early cricket on ant bed or concrete pitches, even on an airfield a few times. Â Thought grass was some made for tv magic. Â Rain was rare. Â I didn't understand cheating gamesmanship at that stage. Â I suppose this could be CAs version of the IOC saying fark it everyone's on the juice let's stop drug testing.

Huzzah, I'm off to Port Macquarie for a week or so to catch up with the old cheese and my bro and his family.
And better still, the quntish Qld and WA Premiers refuse to open their borders to NSW so all their lot will stay home.

Hope the taxpayer does not fund this and when it is tossed out of court costs are awarded against her.

Yeah when was the last time costs were not covered by taxpayers. Though truth be told it's an interesting question that needs to be tested a couple of times a century.

I see Dutton is encouraging legal action as well. I expect the culture wars are starting to ramp up here and embrace CV19.
Here is an article I read in the Guardian about the USA. It is a bit rambly but worth a read.

Tory maths...

In a statement released on its website, the department revealed the $130 billion program - the centrepiece of the government's response to the coronavirus pandemic - was likely to cost $70 billion and cover 3.5 million workers, rather than more than 6 million.

Re: Corona Virus
Better to overestimate than to follow the usual Pinko Maths trend of gross underestimation (particularly prevalent when Swan then chinless Bowen was Treasurer).
Remember Conroy and Rudd's back-of-an-envelope NBN plan that was gonna cost $20 Bill. According to the NBN website, the latest cost is $51 Bill, but that seems to have had some very creative Maths applied to it to keep it so low.
I remember when Turnbull was bleating about it blowing out to over $80 Bill.

Looks like Clive Palmer is going to challenge after WA wouldn't give him the same exemption they gave Kerry Stokes.

Pelosi the other day jabbed the morbidly obese Trump.
I would think Palmer's underlying health issues would dictate minimum exposure to risk. His next lot of travel may be a free trip to clink.
