2 idiot 19 year old women apparently* lied about Covid symptoms and their travels after sneaking back to Qld from Melbourne via Sydney.

They were on 2 Virgin flights on July 21 then wandered about Logan for 8 days so Lord knows how many people have been exposed.

In a fit of pique, Palashit has now excluded all of Sydney from Qld.

I just got some inside goss that she was talked down from more extreme action and her mood is vverging on getting to the shooting messengers stage. Sort of like "stop this or start lining up at centrelunk.

Numbers now going the right way in Melbourne. 295 new reports and another 6 deaths.

Over 20% of nursing homes have residents/staff who are positive.

Andrews rightly stepped in yesterday, tho they are a Cth responsibility. Nearly all elective surgery is cancelled with nurses and others from public hospitals being sent off to manage care in some particularly problematic nursing homes - nearly all these are run by the private sector.

Smoko conceded yesterday the Feds were struggling in the Aged Care domain.

I should have used the term 'residential care' not 'nursing homes'. The facilities do not employ many nurses and most of the care is provided by personal care workers. The few nurses and personal care staff are stretched to maintain their core duties. Periodically some have failed with basic infection control.

CV19 is far more complex.

iirc the structure of the Industry differs markedly between States. Vic and Qld still have some facilities that their govts run. NSW has zip public, large private and smaller not for profit sectors.

Not suggesting private providers do not care about their clients or staff but they are in the game to extract profit. They also charge larger entry and ongoing fees. Some of the 'not for profits' differ as well.

The Uniting Church's approach to resi care used to be vastly different between Qld and Victoria. The Qld crew were concerned to grow their market share of beds and proportion of resi's who were self funded and did not 'play nicely', the Vic mob tended to focus on low income oldies.

The Cth's model has been rickety for a long time (under Libs and Labs). It is now crashing in Victoria under CV19 pressure.

Technically you could argue the cwealth is responsible for quarantine. Mind you if they had taken over they wouldn't have closed state borders.

Like a lot of things in this country aged care is a disgrace. Govts tend to over regulate and then go stingy on oversight and enforcent. Legislation is cheap, people on the ground aren't.

Aye Qmy. They could have taken responsibility but did not. They would have fekked up anyhow.

And yep aged care is a mess. One of the strengths is its separation from the mainstream health system but it is also a terrible weakness. That is aside from the issues of financing and structure of the industry.

This is worrying, as it is a massive growth area for the community. A savvy operator could make a fortune if they managed the process well.

One major problem is dirty white girls don't want to change the nappies of the elderly. Hence a large proportion of Aged Care nurses are asian (Thai, filipino, nepalese etc).

I know this first hand as my mother-in-law is in care. I have spoken to the CEO there and he conceded it is very hard to get staff and they are always short.

Well my source is as hot as a midweek Randwick roughie backed heavily by George Freeman. Batshit crazy, lousy in a crisis but her insiders are thinking more of angry Palashit with a hint of batshit crazy in regards to evil Mexicans would work well. Thus she's very close to having no brakes.

One hint this thing expands further in NSW and the curtain comes down along with a heavy payout to tourism in the regions. Should be an interesting couple of months. Y'all will be locked out but we won't be in lockdown.

They're looking at six months. Might be time for all states to look at punitive detention on an onsight basis with the onus of proof reversed. Might shut up the karens.
