Not Police Academy - shouldn't mess with the classics.

How does it compare to the original?
It's a slightly different story but there is more action than the first one. It is little more than a glorified X Games advertisement. Even the baddies have a higher purpose.
I quite enjoyed it actually (except the part where they free climb up Angel Falls - even though it knew it wasn't real, it gave me the absolute heebeejeebies).

Has anyone here seen The Martian? It was nominated in the Comedy section of the Golden Globes but I thought it was a drama.

I didn't think so. A couple of laughs but didn't think a comedy was the intention.

Ridley Scott himself seem bemused by the film being labelled a "comedy" at the Golden Globes.

Aye. A remake of Don't Look Now! Travesty. The original kept me away from Venice for a decade. .
Julie Christie.....magic

Watched Suffragette at the weekend. The mother of Mumford's son was pretty good.

The Martian was excellent (the chuckles were Damon having some fun to keep himself sane). Watched Bridge of Spies tonight - a good watch.

Had a film day yesterday. Liked Star Wars, mainly Ford andCarrie Fisher. Think Fisher gets a surprise each day when she wakes.
Then saw a docco about Peggie Guggenheim. For those that like modern art its a must. The PG Museum in Venice is an all time fave. PG herself led a remarkable life.

The PG museum is Venice is a little gem. Was quite hard to find if I remember correctly.

I thought it was a little below primo. But it had many great moments and I enjoyed it hugely. Was taken by a 28 yo who loves the series. Interesting to watch with a youngish person. She loved it. Seems there will be one released every year. We resolved to go together.
