Debbie Renolds did Dallas?
Prolly Austin as well.
Of course SW is corny. That is part of the charm. I imagined the big nasty bloke as Donald Trump. Know he could not win!

Princess Leiea was scary. I think she may have hit the bottle when she busted up with Han. Maybe some drugs too. Now there's a back story that could be told.

Aye. Caught it last night. Very brutal story but great performance from DiCaprio. The bear scene was a real eye popper.
Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
DiCaprio can catch you off guard. I always had him written off as a lightweight until "Blood Diamond".
I'm interested in seeing the "Big Short" but was waiting for something besides the mixed reviews as a recommendation.

I've seen it. It's "different", but well worth a look.

I agree. After Titanic i think DiCaprio was classed as just another prettyboy actor but he has certainly broken that mold. I particularly liked his performance in Body of Lies.
Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
He was very good in Revolutionary Road, although perhaps overshadowed by an even more powerful performance by Kate Winslet. Was that really 7 years ago?
Nothing recent from me.

I like him but his pretty boy face does make him see a little light.
IMO, he did a good job in The Departed, was decent in Inception and Shutter Island.
Actually I just took a look at his filmography, didn't realize that he takes on so many cool projects (successful or not). The Departed, Inception, The Beach (great novel), The Great Gatsby, J. Edgar, Blood Diamond, Gangs of New York and now Revenant.

Inception is an expensive remake of the 1995 b grade titties film- Dreammaster: The Erotic Invader.

DiCaprio is a really great actor. My favourite is Catch Me If You Can but anyone who thinks he's not a superb actor should watch What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Still probably his best.
Saw Star Wars. Basically a remake of the first one but still really enjoyed it. And I'd already been told all the big twists long ago. Particularly liked John Boyega.

I enjoyed 'Carol' the other day having just finished the Patricia Highsmith novel which was originally written under another name because of putative polemic material. The acting was great as were the direction and cinematography. It was definitely art-house.

I thought he'd had to diversify because effigy sales were down

Just seen it. Picked up about 1 in 10 of the words Tom Hardy was saying.
