Interesting that you didn't edit the barb about the French delicacy.Dello wrote:I'm sure they've heard worse. Being French and all...

Indeed, "Japs" is probably more offensive . . .

But Scots is the correct word.
"Japs" is more like P*kis in its connotations.
Having lived in Japan, "Japs" is just a word that isn't used in a friendly way.

I don't mind either way, just clarifying the point I was making about the relative inoffensiveness of skully's snail remark.

Duly noted. So do the Nipponese have a slang/shortened term for themselves ala our "Aussie"?tac wrote:Dello wrote:If "Japs" is offensive, then so is "Scots", surely?

FFS, skully. Nihonjin is usual, but they sometimes use "Wa" in a very patriotic way as in "Wagakuni" to mean Japan.

That Chaveunel (sp) guy is a beast. Can't believe the Frogs only brought him on with 20 to play.

Jebus! Couldn't believe when I saw the final score. Caught the first 20 and thought France looked alright.

Well, they're not playing anyone significantly stronger in this group. Italy and Scotland are basically playing off for the second qualifying place, the other two in there are serious minnows - just imagine what even NZ's second string will do against them.

With the Frogs losing last night, there is a chance that they will need to beat France, Aust and the Safs in succession to win.

Good, as beamer said they are in a soft pool and that is not good preparation for them.
Italy just scored their second try . . .
