Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Holland/the Netherlands/the Dutch/that spliff-smoking orange lot running out of steam now after a positive start. Not sure what the record ODI victory margin is…

Well played the Dutch for getting past halfway, they could have just folded after that onslaught.
England’s 498 was a List A, not just ODI, record, beating Surrey’s 496 against Gloucs in 2007. 500 seems a matter of time, as does 300 in a T20.

At least we got rid of the batting record equivalent, Eng's 481 in 2018.

Reminiscent of Clarke's last ball 4 at the SCG which was a couple of metres short of giving Murali 0/101 in a JAMODI.

Thought it was a bit random that Jason Roy had a Dutch cousin who was also an international cricketer… then thought “yeah, they’re both Yarpies, that does make sense.” But turns out Snater was actually born in Zimbabwe, so as well as playing for two different countries, they were born in another two different countries! It appears that Roy’s mother is a Zimmer, so that’s where the connection arises.

Overnight rain delays the second ODI, so no shot at 500 today, however the toss goes. Will be more like an extended T20.

235 from 41 overs was none too Xabi from the Dutch, but unlikely to test this England line-up. Can Roy mark his 100th cap with a century?

Well, Roy and Salt both fall short of three figures. Another duck for Morgan and suddenly England are wobbling a bit.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Interesting to note that this series counts towards World Cup qualification. India qualify automatically as hosts, though are included in the table with the other top 13 sides - top 7 others go through automatically, with the rest going into a last chance qualifying event for the final two places.
The table is somewhat lopsided due to teams playing different numbers of series to date (NZ lie 10th but with a 100% record from 6 games!) One more win for England guarantees a better than .500 record which should be enough to relax. Afghanistan and Bangladesh doing surprisingly well, meaning the pressure is on SL, WI and even SA.

Pretty rubbish defensive effort by Aus v Lanka last night. Couldn't protect 291.
Then again 290 is the new 200.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Australia perhaps fortunate that this doesn’t count for the World Cup qualifying. SL one of the teams with work to do to avoid the repechage qualifier.
In terms of the state of play, I guess it’s not a surprise that Bangladesh are cruising in, maybe slightly more so Afghanistan but they are ranked top 10 in ODIs. So the final qualifier tournament is likely to be two major nations (probably SL and WI) together with Ireland, Zimbabwe, Holland and a couple of second tier qualifiers. You’d back the established two from that but they wouldn’t have much room for error.
A 10-team World Cup still feels strange now we have 12 full member nations, even if we wouldn’t want to go back to some of the bloated formats of the past.

Head missed a straight one
Maxwell got DRSed . I thought he was hit outside the line but DRS had him hit in line
Warner mindf ucked himself because he was on 99
Cam Green doesnt look comfortable against spin

Warner's doing a lot of 'nervous 90s' stuff lately....a 'lot' strictly in the context of now getting near that kind of score once a blue moon. He's cooked.

Still, regular 90s are better than NoShow's 1 in 10 efforts.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
England let the crowd down by choosing to field first instead of having another crack at 500. Could have understood it if we hadn’t had a chance to chase in the series.
Anyway, an early-ish night and a place at the World Cup in the bag… now the question of whether Morgan makes it that far.

Morgan's place is becoming increasingly untenable, especially with Root, Bairstow and Stokes to be slotted in.

Yeah, those three have to be certainties in a first-choice top six, with Roy, Buttler and one other. Depends on the balance of side we want really, I mean we effectively had seven bowlers today, and Stokes is obviously a bowling option himself…
