I'm with furry.

250 would be grouse, but if we can scrape a 200 lead, it might be hard for India to compile the needed target.

Can Head's bravado last a bit longer? Can Smudge fashion a 50? Can someone, anyone else do something, FFS?

Good effort from the bowlers. K had a fine debut, Spud backed up his own and Elmer reaped the rewards of playing nicely.

I think we need another 250, not merely a lead of 250.

And as best I can remember Cheesemann has already done one thing the late great Shane Warne never managed: he got to share the new ball in a Test.

In hindsight (obv aided by the fact that it worked OK) that was genius by PC Pat: with 40 mins to play, the Bannies were never doing anything except keeping their wickets intact and he was able to gain confidence and settle into a rhythm. He deserved better figures and will get them, maybe within the week.

Probably right.

I was amazed at the ease at which Axar played the turning ball.

It's nice when our under-peforming team produces a good day (aside from the Axar-Ashtray stand) to put us back in the hunt.

How long today before they pull the rug from under us?

Very poor first 45 mins.

Head got a good one, Smudge played a poor shot and Marnus should have been way forward not way back.

We'll do well to set 150 from here.

With 250, you'd have been favourites. What has happened, though, is shamelessly bad.

The Indian top order, Sharma excluded, is awful. All with averages of 25-30 over a 3 year stretch with a lot of cricket. Gill and Agarwal won't be downgrades on Rahul. Pujara got away with 3 years of mediocracy due to not getting out in Australia. Kohli is running on reputation. Sarfraz Khan has a ridiculous 80-90 run avg in domestic cricket. Not very dissimilar to what happened around 2011, but the batting faring quite a bit worse while the bowling is miles better.

Can still take 2-3 more free wickets and claim moral victory.

I guess the others were in Delhi.
