Re: The Ashes 2023
Handscomb will be included, particularly if Head is given a run at the top.
Wank is our next best middle order offering, although his last showing v Jimmeh was a complete embarrassment (Adelaide under lights)

Given the way we bowled in Pakistan, that would not not necessarily be to our disadvantage.

Warner banished, Carey on thin ice (Peirson seems a better option), only one of Kuhnemann and Murphy will go, Hazlewood under an injury cloud.
Head
Khawaja
Bancroft
Labs
Smith
Handscomb
Green
Peirson
Carey
Lyon
Murphy
Boland
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood / Neser
I’d like to see both Hazlewood and Neser in the squad. If that means Carey out, so be it. Handscomb can be the backup w/k if required
(I’m assuming squad of 15)
If it's 17, then all of the above, plus Marsh. Horrie - I don't think Harry will go. Perhaps if there's a squeeze on the Carey / Peirson spots above, or injuries between now and the tour commencement. Morris ends up being the unluckiest omission.

Prolly right Lardy.
Think Morris will miss. Not sure how an express bowler would go on English pitches. Having watched Spencer Johnson a bit Have to say I am most impressed. He moves the ball both ways off the pitch and in the air. Could be a Massie factor in England. Haze should not go.
I fear Warner gets a tour and will disrupt it through poor play and making it all about him. I prefer Harry to Bangers who is suss off our or SA pitches but understand local form should be rewarded. No other openers have put up their hands.
There is an outside possibility Puck may play in the SS Final. If he did and played well he could be a shock outside selection.
Re keeping, Carey did a great job with the gloves In India but was a number 11 with the bat. If they take a back up it will be Inglis who leaves me cold but WA would riot if Jimmy P (our best gloveman imo) got the gig.
I am stunned that Marsh is being discussed.

Bison has signed up to play Major League Cricket which clashes with the Ashes ...hopefully the NSP respect his decision

Yeah, not sure if we’ll use Archer or Wood much (even in the unlikely event they stay fit) though it is good to have variety in your attack. Obviously weather conditions can vary a lot here, but think they’ll want “Anderson and Broad pitches” to give us the best chance!Nath wrote:horace wrote:

Where to start? How about selecting the worst number 6 in Test history? How about selecting GCS? How about selecting Haze who will arrive fat as a fool having done no work?

Sounds like 17, to be trimmed to 15.
Farknose how Warner and Marsh get selected ahead of Bancroft and Neser.

Expect 8 shit starts for Aus (WTC Final and 1st 3 Tests) until the NSP finally puts GCS out of his misery.

Bancroft, Neser and Kuhnemann are playing County Cricket so they're basically in the squad anyway.

Have to say I'm still mystified at Puddle's selection in the squad. Is he injury cover for Snot?
