Tasmania is dismissed v cheaply, with Sutherland and O’Neill the main perps. Without Freeman and Hope, the scoreboard would have been an even sorrier sight.

WA loses Bancroft for a duck, then consolidated; Whiteman and Goodwin scoring quite freely.

SA (sans Henry Hunt, presumably dropped on form) struggle to 4-176 v the previously hapless Dubbers

… and I see the Vomits are struggling as did the Tasmanian team. Webster has just struck twice in an over. His medium pace bowling has really improved; he uses his height well. I’m reminded a little of Tom Moody.  More Moody than Symonds or Funky, anyway.

Why were the dubbers hapless?



Usually they are the opposite of hapless. e.g. "They give them a baggy green in a brown paper bag when they make their Shield debut"

Last three Vomit wickets fall for the addition of just 25 runs this morning ... 9th wicket partnership of 19 the second best of the innings.

I'm hoping for a score of 250 plus from the Tasmanian second innings; that should be enough. The wicket must be tough.

Erk; Tassie 5-66 in their second innings; effectively 5-200, with Silk the latest to be dismissed.

They need to make at least another 100; and I'm not sure where they're coming from.

It would have to be a record. According to Cricket Archive the 10th wicket record for Tasmania in First Class cricket was 122 by WG Ward & N Dodds vs Victoria in 1898/99.

So good to see the weather being a factor again in a Spiv match. This time rather than saving them from a flogging it may prevent them from winning.

Webster is really the impoverished man’s Sobers of Shield cricket. Had a wonderful season.

Webster now apparently holds the record aggregate for a number 6 in a Sheffield Shield Season.
