Stokes the Aussie MotM for the declaration? The 30-40 runs we left on the table proved decisive, along with missed chances etc. Hopefully he will realise that was one gamble too far, yes bat and captain aggressively but that crossed a line of not treating Test cricket with due respect, and came back to bite him.lardbucket wrote:Oz win!!!

I fear we won’t get as close to a win in this series again, as getting the Aussie big three relatively cheaply won’t happen often, a Smith double at Lord’s just feels nailed on.

Strange negative captaincy. Stacked leg side and short stuff.

I wasn’t quite sure how they were trying to get them out at the end, but obviously felt they weren’t going to get catches behind the wicket on this.horace wrote:Strange negative captaincy. Stacked leg side and short stuff.
We needed a genuine pace option as well, as I predicted. Jimmy was a non-factor, beginning of the end? Do they dare to leave him out at Lord’s?

Remarkable stuff.
Has to be, for all the slips and errors thrills and spills, one if the greatest Tests in history?
Endless to and fro, never in the slightest predictable or bettable.
Congrats to the Australian team, but first and foremost to Cspt Pat. The hero of the hour. Or of eight or ten hours in the match,... but you know what I mean.
Oh, and second to Usman A weirdly tame dismisssl second innings, But for all that, Australia's rock throughout.
England will need to mske two or three changes., I suppose. I mean through injury/knackeredness, not setting myself up as a "hurler o n the ditch".

A great chase with Smith our lowest scorer ... that won't have happened too often.
A reminder yet again that Test cricket is the duck's nuts. T20 can never provide that.

Might be no Mo due to dodgy finger, in which case the choice could be Foakes or an extra seamer.

Maybe they should change the rules so declared innings can be resumed at the end if needed? That would shake things up. Would be a two-wicket shoot-out from evens here
