Bar DKL and Merv Hughes, I didn't realise the Aussies were such c*nts.
Windies being entertaining, now not.
India whinging more.
England being consistantly good at ODIs.
Less fatties all-round.
Pakistan were dynamic, exciting and good.
Sri Lanka were abjectly bad.

I think that just about covers it Bas.Basil wrote:The first test I saw was on the Telly would have been 1964/65. So, in no particular order:
More results
Slower over rates
Higher run rates
Higher standards of fielding
Lower standard of behaviour among the players
More uninhibited crowds
More money, lots more money
Fewer decent finger spinners
Heavier bats
Helmets

I don't have to put up with this from you. You ponce in here expecting teutonic accuracy, while I'm trying to run a thread here. Have you any idea of how much there is to do? Do you ever think of that? Of course not, you're too busy sticking your nose into every corner, poking around for things to complain about, aren't you? Well let me tell you something - this is exactly how Nazi Germany started. A lot of layabouts with nothing better to do than to cause trouble. Well I've had thirty-odd years of pandering to the likes of you, and I've had enough. I've had it. Come on, pack your bags and get out.

What?
My parents didn't go without rodent food and bitter fruit for 13 years to have Pythonesque insults hurled at them by the likes of you.
Get back to Nuremburg you stinking Strudelkopf.

Do you think that this generation just aren't gentically designed to do it? England recently had a moustache-growing competition and only Liam Plunkett came out with any credibility.

That must be it although I think a proper 70s mo takes more than a couple of weeks cultivation.

Re: What has changed since you watched your first test match?
Thinking about Tests I've seen given the impending first Australia - Afghanistan Test in Hobart, which I'll be able to attend. I've been very fortunate to have (so far) seen Tests here in Australia involving all the Test playing nations bar Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Ireland. Afghanistan gets 'crossed off the list' this year ...

Re: What has changed since you watched your first test match?
This was originally 13 years ago, a lot has changed even since then!
For me it’s probably the pace and momentum of the game which isn’t necessarily a good thing. Heads seem to go down a lot more easily, both with batting sides on a minefield and bowling sides on a road. Hence the proliferation of both two-day result Tests and 1500-runs-for-20-wickets bore draws.
In terms of obvious features - DRS, neutral umpires, pink ball, no rest days, the TV coverage, camera angles etc., quality of fielding, new/returning countries, names and numbers, electronic scoreboards, oh and England winning a few (at home at least!)
