Re: The IPL thread
So how bad is the opening ceremony.
Always found that opening ceremonies are dreadful, and just pointless.

just the hour too long...
I'm watching the first match out of interest, but I doubt i'll stick with this as it means nothing to me as I have no vested interested in any teams. It would be similar for Indians watching any EPL set up.

I think i'm the same, although I'm thinking that if the cricket turns out to be decent, thn I'll take more of an interest in it.
As you say no vested interest as such, but if its decent standard and the games are exciting then why not.
It will also be good to see fellow internationals playing against each other for a giggle!

Cricket club to import Redskins cheerleadersPosted: April 18, 2008, 9:00 AM by Noah Love
The Bangalore Royal Challengers, an Indian cricket club, will have a new set of American fans in the stands on Friday.
The Washington Redskins have sent their cheerleading squad across the Atlantic for the inaugural match of the Indian Premier League. The cheerleaders will adapt their cheers to their new crowds, combining traditional all-American cheerleading moves with Indian "Bollywood hip-hop" steps.
"I am really looking forward to the reaction of India towards the Redskins cheerleaders," said Donald Wells, Washington's entertainment and cheerleading director, to The Times. "What we are doing is cutting edge and it's great to see that we are going to start this squad off on the right foot."
Wells will stay behind after his team leaves to help develop a local squad of cheerleaders, who will be picked from a set of auditions in India.
The injection of American cheerleaders into the Indian past-time was a decision made by Vijay Mallya, a liquor baron who bought the team at an auction for $111.6-million in January. The move comes after team owners received new pressure to sell tickets and merchandise, and increase advertising revenue.

Re: The IPL thread
Virat Kohli seems a worthy replacement for Yuvraj. PK seems a decent fielder at the boundary.
Re: The IPL thread
F*cking hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
150 for McCullum.
Simply sensational, he's been going on the tonk like no-man's business.

I'm Punjabi so it makes sense to support Mohali. I just hope we don't get stuffed like the clueless 'Bangalore-bevkoofs' did.
Congrats to the IPL on a great start and the best opening ceremony for a major cricket event ever.

No doubt, had the first game been a tight game, people would be shouting 'fix'
