The EPL thread (IV)
It's a shame Ronadinho's nut isn't quite right. I fancy Barcelona would have strolled through if they'd had him.
Anyway, seems like Man Utd will be the best of a bad bunch this time around. European Football is truly awful currently - no entertainment, and a lot of teams playing dour, defensive football. Not much of a spectacle, but still it attracts the £££ like flies to shit. The current sides are probably technically better than any of their predecessors, but give me flawed genius every day over perfect, robotic football.

Paul Scholes - absolute legend, great great great player!
This win will give us the momentum and confidence to go on and win the title, bring on the final. Barca only looked like scoring when Messi had the ball, they did an Arse over the two legs got most of the ball but were not direct just pretty boy passing.
Augustus - regarding your comment, if we had Rooney we would have coasted through and if we had Vidic it probably would have been 3-0 with the big Serbs arial threat against the small Barca players.

It's hard to be direct when the other team plays like a division 3 side and packs their own half.
Scholes's goal from that mistake messed up the match. If both teams had had to attack, it would have been a much better game and there would have actually been some space to play.
This cheered me up: Ronaldo ambushed by three transvestites. :laule:

Hmm if you didn't see, but the first 45 it was very open and we had more goal mouth action in that period even though Barca had the majority of the possesion, it's only when victory was in sight we completely shut shop plus i can't recall any CLEAR cut chances they created.
Roflmao at Ronaldo, drop your gf off then get some prostitutes, must be procedure for the great man.

Only time Barca came close was with some long range Deco shots besides from that it was all hot air, truthly the only player that worried me was Messi the rest did not look like doing much.

United played the dull, defensive football Liverpool used to play under Gerard Houllier. They played Barca when the club was in turmoil, set out their stall and in the end, profited from a hospital pass.
That said, they deserve to be in the final. Rio was a giant in both legs.
Zambrotta had Ronaldo in his pocket in both ties. The "big game" debate about Cronaldo will continue.
Pfft. United had the much better chances. All Barca's chances were from shots outside the penalty area.
And Ronaldo played very well. A very team orientated game. Was always an outlet for his team-mates.

He's your typical Arse fan, can't do the job themselves so they bank on others.

Open? No it wasn't. It was "open" when you got the ball and tried to counter attack. The rest of the time you packed the edge of your box like a conference side playing a premiership team.
Messi went past 2 or 3 players and then shot into the corner. Van Der Sar just saved it. And there were loads of times Barca passed into the box and then overplayed rather than pulling the trigger. And the opposite too, instead of passing to unmarked players, people like Abidal crashed shots into defenders. Messi was also fouled when running into the box a few times, resulting in free kicks on the edge of the box rather than clear shots on goal, something that would have happened if hadn't been fouled.
Like I said, it's difficult to create clear cut chances when a team packs their own half. You defended well but that's pretty much all you did. Liverpool used to do the same thing.

How sh!t are Barca if they can't even score against a team playing like a conference side?
Nothing worse than a sore loser, Barca for all their huff and puff never managed to score and for that reason they did not deserve to win, tactically and defensively we were far superior, Barca never created chances like Nani's, Tevez's, Park's shot that went wide by a couple of inches etc. It was just fancy football around the box followed by a tackle from Wes Brown/Ferdinand etc.

I'm not sore. They've been crap for months and don't deserve to win anything this year. Just saying that United killed the game and made it difficult to create chances by playing very defensive football.
United deserve to be in the final.

I agree - wasn't Uniteds best football and they played like Liverpool at times. But tactically they got it spot on playing deeper than normal.
Who do you want in the final Mak?
I reckon Chelsea will be the harder tie myself.

When the best chance you have all match (or atleast the last 75 minutes) is a header straight at the keeper by Henry, in a match where your opponents have given away the ball time and again, then that is playing bad football.

Re: The EPL thread (IV)
United created by far the better chances. Nani should have scored twice and there was much more danger in the box.
Barca's best chance was Henry's header. In fact in 180 minutes of football they never created a clear cut chance. And that was us without one of our best defenders.

Cyclops -
The way they packed their penalty box was reminiscent of a conference side playing a premier league side for fear of conceding. That was my point.
