The EPL thread (III)
JKLever wrote:United dumped out of the cup 1-0 by Pompey.
Should've been well ahead though. Guy on Fanzone just shouted out 'Oh F*ck off' live on air as the penalty was given.. LMAO
And dear ol' Mak believes that the Scum can "deal" with Arsenal in the CL!!
All I will say is .... "Bring it on ..."

Re: The EPL thread (III)
Knew something like this was going to happen at half time, was very important to get a goal before half time, it was just not happening. When you play a team that puts 10 men behind the ball and you are gunning for a win you allways run the risk of letting in a goal, Pompey had luck on their side and nicked the winner they won fair play to them. On another day we would have thumped them 3-4 nil, as soon as Evra hit the post i knew it was not going to be our day.
End of the day they took their chance and rode their luck, fair play to them hope they go on to win it, but i think Chelsea will win it easily now.
Says a lot about the standard of English footballl really when one of the top 8 teams comes into a cup tie hell bent on playing for a draw and it's not just Pompey, supposedly other 'top' teams like Everton/Man City etc with the expception of Villa come to the top teams not wanting to play football at all.
Anyway it could be a blessing in disguise we can now concentrate on the CL and the league, would like the CL much more though, if we make it to the final me and some mates are planning to go to Moscow, so fingers crossed.

I missed the start of the game, was it a penalty?
And yes it is a losing rant, but he has a point about Diarra on a fouling rampage.

Re: The EPL thread (III)
Considering penalties are hardly ever given at OT and that there were 21 blatent ones not given at the end of last season, Fergie has a cheek droning on about it.
Even if it was a penalty and the goalie should never have been sent off

Re: The EPL thread (III)
Bristol Rovers looked an okay side when I went down to the Mem earlier in the season. Admittedly, we clawed a point back from two goals down, but they seemed to have everything bar a defence. It shouldn't be that surprising that they've done well in the Cup - they had a cup mentality going for the last half of last season, beating a couple of higher division sides before losing a match they should have won against Donny in the JPT Final. Then they won the play-offs, of course, and thoroughly deserved to after dismantling Lincoln and out-playing Shrewsbury in the final.
I personally would love it if they were in the UEFA Cup next season. I wouldn't love it so much if they stormed into the play-offs with their games in hand and we met them though.

Thank God, i say. 17 of the last 19 winners (and all of the last 12) have been Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal.
There is some pedigree in the list - WBA are traditional FA cup acheivers and Cardiff, Portsmouth and Barnsley have all won it before.
Cardiff even had to beat Reading in a semi final to get theirs.

Isn't this what the FA Cup is all about? Good georaphic spread around the country too.
Really hope Barnsley go all the way now - there's a good cricket link with Dickie Bird and Parky.

Re: The EPL thread (III)
I hate the FA Cup. Mainly, I hate hearing about "the magic of the FA Cup" all the f*cking time.
Yes, we get it, BBC - you've paid out for the rights to the FA Cup and you want to sell the product as something special (though it's no more special than the League Cup - which is also mostly played to half-empty grounds by second string Premier League XIs). Really, we get it.
The number of times that doddering imbecile John Motson shoe-horned in "magic" and "FA Cup" and "remarkable" and "FA Cup" and "could only happen in" and "the FA Cup" and "I've soiled myself as a result of" and "the FA Cup" was beyond a joke, bordering on dementia.
Lower-league cloggers hoofing the ball around on a ploughed cabbage patch isn't my idea of magic.

Going to be like that all the way to the end of the season with the 3 clubs still all in the Champions league. Nobody is going to get a long break between games...

3rd draw on the trot for the gunners...and this may well prove to be the turning point of the season. manure go top if they win their game in hand, so its in their hands now. we still have to go to old trafford, stamford bridge and also have liverpool at home and they are hitting form so...not looking good

Re: The EPL thread (III)
WTF is it with this side right now?
They cream Milan at the San Siro then play like farts against a relegation side.
As Ash said - this could well be the turning point .... Manure win and take the lead -
and will most likely hold onto it.
Jesus ... 5 points clear just 3 weeks ago ....

To be fair, the pitch was a bit of a joke. Especially for a team like Arsenal.

Aye that is true the pitch was a disgrace (without making excuses) - but they also appeared clueless at times in the Wigan half ...Lara Lara Laughs wrote:To be fair, the pitch was a bit of a joke. Especially for a team like Arsenal.
I counted six times when they moved forward to within yards of the Wigan box, only to be driven back again to
end in a final back pass to Almunia for a punt upfield! I mean ... WTF ?
