I suppose they need 40 man squads because of all the niggling injuries that will require urgent attention that week.

I must admit the concept of 'The Rest' doesn't work for me. 'The Allies' was barely acceptable in order to make up four teams but State of Origin only really works when state rivalries are involved.

I suppose this was happened this year because taking advantage of Easter meant an earlier start to the year than normal and the split round is popular with the clubs. To me it means that there will be 3 weeks with a deficiency of football this year.

I would rather they played 24 rounds.

7 weeks is about reasonable.

Judged against the Greg Williams-Andrew Coates case from 1997, he'd have got 25 years without possibility of parole and be forced to listen to Bronwyn Bishop, Celine Dion and VoR for the rest of his days.

Judged against Jim O'Dea-John Greening incident, he'd be sent to bed without any supper and sternly told not to do it again.

Which cuts across my last statement how exactly?

Actually I dunno if I'm learning how to avoid it but the hysteria has been reasonably muted this time. Everybody agrees Baz done gone done a bad bad thing and he needs his arse kicking and he'll get it and who do we play next week?

One thing noticeably missing is the usual pathetic whinging disguised as chest-thumping from Dermie and Crackers and Don Scott and Mal Brown and the rest of the 'It's A Man's Game!!!!!' dial-a-mouth crowd, such as sounded up after the Riewoldt fiasco a couple of years back.

Wallace was, is and forever will remain a clown but there's no doubt Richmond have improved (at last).

There's a seven-letter word, starting with R and closely associated with Aretha Franklin, which nobody at Tigerland dare utter, because they know no good will ever come of it. Things were steaming ahead in 2005 until some idiot put this word on the cheer-squad banner about 10 rounds in. That night Nathan Brown busted his leg, and then it all went titsup again for the next two years.

both wallace and eade have been sooking across the radio today...harris/lake pulling a hammy after taking the mark and minson having to take the kich was another hella funny outcome from the draw...

the two teams in the most parlous state are the demons and the weazels...in addition to the loss of benny and judd it seems clear that the side having to go straight has affected their form

Gerard Whateley on his usual rant about draws this morning - I await with interest his proposals for 'resolving' the Tied Tests, or the triple dead-heat Hotham Handicap in the 50s.
