Re: AFL 2008 thread
Complaining about draws is such a seppo thing to do. Next he'll be wanting to bring in time outs.

As long as you can maintain safe distance between Gerry and his hobby-horses ('live posts' is another one, which stinks even worse) he's a damned good commentator. He lets himself down badly when he gets sidetracked - like a kind of commentating Kevin Sheedy.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
I don't think Carlton are quite ready to take on the MOTN yet - Addledville have a way of stopping teams with form-lines like Carlton's in their tracks.
(MOTN: Alternative version of a line in the theme song - the meter and the '......ation of the nation' bit are unchanged.)

I guess the only thing stopping Collingwood fans from smiling is that none of them has any teeth

You don't need teeth to laugh.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
Stoopid St Kilda ... form all over the place.
Some trends are emerging though after 6 weeks. Geelong is strong again, but not as ruthless as last year. The Western Bulldogs are very strong and I wouldn't be surprised if the long streak (since 1954) is over. Hawthorn and Adelaide are the other major GF/SF contenders. Collingwood (like Brisbane and North) is good on its day, but doesn't have the depth to threaten at the end of the year. Sydney could be a handful on GF day, but won't get there. St Kilda and Port are not capable of stringing four good quarters together, let alone two matches in a row. Essendon, Richmond and Carlton are rebuilding and might be very useful teams in two years. The Weagles and Fremantle are weak, especially the Weagles, although they can still threaten their opponents at home. Melbourne is shot to bits, and really should merge with Richmond, before being adopted by Tasmania.

I reckon the team who scores most goals should be the winner in a draw - in this case that would be North (9.10). And i'm not saying that just because i tipped them.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
After draws two weeks runnung the TV commentators will be screaming blue murder about not having dramatic pics of The Contrast Between Victory And Defeat to show as the teams leave the field, or the club song being sung by the winners - which seems to be the main impetus behind this media bleat.

Devastated. I tipped North, too. Was hoping to catch up a point on that game ...

HTF can experienced players like Brent Harvey and Nathan Brown not be aware of the score? It reflects badly on them as professionals.
