Re: Current International One Day Cricket
I believe Stobo is playing in the CC, but if Worral played for Oz now, he would become an overseas player again for surrey which would mean they couldnt field both him and Roach in the same team.

Well, 272-5 became 315 all out. Not a bad score under most circumstances but looks like the Aussies are on track to chase it down comfortably.
Duckett and Brook add a bit more weight to the top order compared to the JAMITT series but I still think we’re a batting specialist or two light. Jacks-of-all-trades made a brisk 60-odd but is he really a long-term ODI number 3?

Just logged on. Looks like we were a two man show, Head and Marnus.

That was some innings by Head, there was 1 chance on 9 which only Green would have caught probably. As usual englands bazballers gave away their wkts when well set. Maybe england should take up Worralls offer

3-317 in 44, useful.
Congrats to our spinners who grabbed 9 wickets and to Head for his mighty 154*. Marnus had a good game with 3-39 and 77*.

Good effort by Mariah to get us to 270. But shirley this is at least 50 short of par?

Not against this line-up…
This batting side would be OK for T20, but we really need Root and Stokes back in for the long-short-format.

I thought England would've easily run down 270, but looks like Koo, Purple and Laurel had other ideas.
Well done to the bowlers.

Think he called time on 50-over cricket at least… though hard to keep up with multi-format retirements and un-retirements.Basil wrote:Do we know if Stokes is still available for white ball duty?
While he obviously can’t do it all, and the 2027 50-over World Cup might be too far away for him, the Baz factor might just tempt him to get involved again. Should have been the coach’s first phone call on taking the dual role.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
I'd rather STokes concentrate on getting fit for the test tour in october than play in this ephemeral odi jolly. And root prob deserves a rest. Give the young pretenders as much a try out as poss i say But Brook doesnt seem a great captain atm. I bet theyd all like to bat like Head in the 1st match, but they so far they cant stay in long enough to do it. They seem to find more comical ways to get out in every match.
Meanwhile Guardian reported:
"The ECB will offer fewer long-term deals this year as it has been left to count the cost of some expensive mistakes 12 months ago. Jonny Bairstow signed a two-year deal worth £800,000 a year last October but has not played for England since the T20 World Cup in June and has little chance of a recall, the ECB paying him more than £1m not to play."
nice work if you can get it, laughing all the way to the bank, and so on.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Well yeah, sure he’d rather be playing and think he could still improve this ODI side if he found some form, though age and injury history may make him a liability in some senses.
Can understand them offering such deals to keep key players away from a full-time franchise circus existence but this one does look like a case of muddled thinking given he’d already been dropped when it was awarded.
