We'll have plenty of opportunities (6 to be precise) to exact revenge!

Is he not a fast-medium bowler anyway?

How did he look Bas? Constantly worried about his landing or was he getting through the crease ok?

Yes he was. Against India in his debut Test he maxed out at 91mph - and knackered himself doing it, didn't play for the rest of the summer.
He's never been more than a steady 85-87mph since.
That's f/m in my book.
Re: County season 2008
Got his success by being able to swing it both ways with reverse at a lively pace.

Re: County season 2008
I was just discussing it with a friend of mine, and Hampshire are really really in a spot of bother this season.
Carberry is on the verge of getting a place in the England squad, along with Tremlett is he doesn't snap again.
Warne's decided he has better things to do with his precious time, likewise Bruce.
In Bond and Watson we have two of the most injury prone cricketers in the world as our overseas signings.
Pothas might not be allowed to play what with his involvement with ICL.
How could things get any worse?

SiJo had a quicker ball that touched on 90mph. The bulk of his deliveries came down in the mid 80s.

That's the pessimist's view.
I don't think Carberry or Tremlett will see much if any international action this summer for various reasons - Carberry because he's not exactly the next cab off the rank and Tremlett because there are serious doubts about his fitness.
So look at the best case scenario: An attack of Tremlett, Bond, Mascarenhas, Ervine and young Liam Dawson won't be the worst bowling unit around. Billy Taylor and James Tomlison are quite serviceable seamers too.
Batting looks weak as piss, though.
They're not going to win the title, but I don't think they'll be relegated either.
Re: County season 2008
I agree. Jones bowled at around 86 in the Ashes. Apart from the odd effort ball, he doesn't need to bowl any faster really.
I doubt he's bowling mid 80s now though.

Mascarenhas is off to the IPL isn't he? He's going to miss some games.

He wasn't really putting in any effort today - not that I blame him, the conditions weren't really fit, and it's unlikely that he'll get back to being the bowler he was in 2005

Yeah, perhaps not. You'd think that it'd be possible given that he's come back from a major injury before and he's one of the fittest players in cricket but his first injury was his ankle and this is his knee, which for a bowler must be much more serious.
Anyone know of any other bowlers that have come back from major knee injuries? There's Vaughan obviously but he doesn't bowl anymore.

I think the best we can hope for for 2009 is Sidebottom, Hoggard, Fred, Tremlett and Panesar.
And yes Tremlett > Broad. He's just a better bowler at the moment.

Re: County season 2008
Notts have just signed a teenage, 6' 6" fast bowler. Luke Fletcher.
Keep an eye out for his progress - 6' 6" seems to be the minimum height requirement for England bowlers these days.
Broad, Tremlett, Finn, erm... Wil Jefferson...

Re: County season 2008
Middlesex are showing some ambition with two major signings:

Are these just made up cricketers and it's actually just a day old April's fool joke making a satirical point about the dearth of quality overseas players this season?

Fark me. Middx really are showing some ambition. Philander is pump, and Nannes at 31 has only played 9 first class matches!
Add that to Udal's signing and they must be going places!!!
