Exit polls published in Metro this morning suggest a narrow win for Ken.

Re: London Mayor: The nothing to do with Langer and Fred thread
There needs to be more threads dedicated to the London Mayor elections what with it concerning the very center of civilization and all.
Voted for Ken half-heartedly on the basis that you'd have to be a congenital idiot to vote for Boris. I also resent that the only London paper with political comment is owned by the Daily Mail and has been anti-Ken for yonks.
Read today that Gatting and Gus Fraser both voted Boris...dear oh dear.

If London elects Boris as Mayor then it really is the cesspit of Qunts that everyone everywhere else in the rest of the country assumes it to be!

A paper distributed free on the Tube. I don't even believe the weather forecast in that. What's the matter, doesn't your benefit stretch to the Standard?

You're a bit of a cock aren't you Allan? Anybody with a bit of social conscience is a benefit bludger :| I thought that twat attitude went out in the 80's... oh wait, it did.

You're still here so it can't have done and since when did NuLabour and Red Ken supporters (not the same thing) ever have a social conscience? I thought it was all about snouts in the trough.

And there we have it... the typical Boris Johnson voter.

And yet you believe everything your heroes Hannity and O'Reilly spew on Fox News.
I thought you'd love the metro anyway, it's owned by the Mail group.

Apparently bookies are already paying up for a Boris Johnson victory. Good grief.

It'd be funny if it wasn't so.... no, wait - it is funny. Hilarous, even. Only in Britain could a semi-retarded, delusional, befuddled, incompetent, socially inept buffoon carve out a successful career as a politician.
Best of luck, London. Hope the IOC have a back-up plan for the 2012 Olympics...
Re: London Mayor: The nothing to do with Langer and Fred thread
Johnson's candidacy has been subject of international interest. Germany's Der Spiegel and America's National Public Radio reported the race, both quoting Johnson as saying "if you vote for the Conservatives, your wife will get bigger breasts, and your chances of driving a BMW M3 will increase."
LMAO
That's new mayor of London, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, for you...

Re: London Mayor: The nothing to do with Langer and Fred thread
He might surprise us all and be really good in the job.
I remember watching an episode of Have I got News for You once where Paul Merton made an observation a couple of minutes into the show and said something like:
"it's interesting Boris....how come your hair's sticking out and looking wild and eccentric because it was perfectly neat just before we started the show. I wonder if making you look a like a bumbly eccentric buffoon is part of a specially crafted public image".
Then Hislop said something funny and everybody laughed and forgot about it. Stuck in my mind though.
Of course, he could very well single-handedly destroy a city.

He'll have a lot of power - hasn't the London Assembly got the same powers as the Scottish parliament?

Boris Johnson
Jeffrey Archer
Ken Livingstone
Frank Maloney
All past or present candidates... seems like it's the equivalent of the milk prefect* at school.
(Did anyone ever have a milk prefect...?)

Re: London Mayor: The nothing to do with Langer and Fred thread
I'm sure this is a joke that's gone too far.
Someone said 'wouldn't it be hilarious to put Boris in a position of power, I mean, he is a bungling toff about as in touch with the common man as Robinson Crusoe, but he is lovable in a lost kind of way...', and then all of a sudden he's on the verge of running the capital city of a major world power.
If only some people weren't too proud to back down and admit it was a mistake and stopped being funny some time ago, then this whole sorry affair and politics could go back to being it's normal, boring and deceitful self and we wouldn't have to worry about a genuine idiot getting in charge of something.
Not that I care all that much, but still. At least we know he's hasn't had sex with a man. Yet.
