The only captain TGM admired was Tubby.

That is what I meant,hell would freeze over before I expected to see a positive vote for RP.There is not a lot of posters on here,and the majority of the ones that are posting on here seem to be fairly nasty.

A poor captain who has been bailed out and made to appear good by an invincible squad in the past - but as the squad begin to look decidedly mediocre ... blatantly exposing his abject failings as a leader.

I would say that is sage for a Pom but in fact it is just plain sage.

Think he's improved markedly in the last year. Still not 'good' though IMO. As has been said, he knows what to do when on the front foot but he's too reactive.

What is clear is that in the last 4 or 5 tests, the correlation between Lee's bowling and Ponting's captaincy has been disproved.

So ... what does THAT tell you about Ponting's captaincy!

IMO both have got poorer - only the Drunk's is more exposed as his team's performances
falter without the big guns of the past.

Vawn is still a qunt who misses Felch's tactical on-field awareness.

I said the majority of posters,not all.As Merlins post proves.The captain of the English side in 05 was Fletcher,not Vaughan.

He's gotten better. Not much. I'd be tearing out my hair 60% of the time if I was an Australian fan. Still mediocre at best.

He's no great shakes imo, the next 2 years or so will give us a good indication as to how good he is...

When his winning record is not one of the best ever then maybe he can be considered a bad captain.

That win record's got FA to do with his abilities purely as a captain on the field. Well, maybe not FA, but close.
