holcs wrote:Well what a fooking surprise!!
The sunflower seed NPB got a pretty farking 40 and threw it away! For fooks sake someone just shoot him!!!
Atherton : "Ah, that's Ian Bell ... flattered to please ...... yet again."
The guy's a quality batsman, no doubt ... pretty shots, correct pose and style, punishes pie chuckers ...
but he's nothing but a f**king idiot when it comes down to thinking and taking his game/innings forward.
Bell Mindset = Ah, I've got to 40 ... time to chuck it away.

Oh dear, Wobbles gone as well!
Got Bopara unable to hit it off the square, and causes Wobbles to try and inject some pace into the innings. Ravi needs to get a biggie here now!

Re: England v New Zealand, 4th ODI, The Oval, 25th June

25 overs to bat, and not alot left, these two have to consolidate and bat most of the innings.
Or alternatively smoke one over midwicket for 6!

Southee to Shah, SIX, bosh! Well, that was unexpected, but incredibly effective! A cross-batted mow, from a standing sweep position, and that clears midwicket by ten rows!
Oh. I just blew my load.

Re: England v New Zealand, 4th ODI, The Oval, 25th June
BTW, is bosh! acceptable? Because to me, it sounds like some Hooray Henry rugby twat who has just seen someone's spleen ruptured by a crunching tackle.

To be fair I always acknowledge a good Jimmykins performance, though I take your point...
You went more AGBB than I've seen most go during his Lord's performance. Alls I'm saying is the same thing I've said about Jimmy - that I've said about Straussy(incorrectly) - they produce just enough to keep their place in the side and their mediocre average up.
The sort of players people will look back on and think 'Ohhh, f*cking mega player there". Which is cockrot.
Sure, but I've also said Belly doesn't produce under pressure - the stats back that up - no denying it...
The stats don't back that up. The only stat that suggested such a thing was that most of his 100s were scored after someone else in the side has already scored a 100. A not so damning stat when he was coming in down the order. It can easily be countered though by saying that the hardest runs to come by were when the side posted a low total. I am sure that Bell is a frequent top scorer in such circumstances - particularly on our last tour to Pakistan when he was our standout batsman.

Shah pats back a maiden to Vettori - and this from a decent player of spin...

Thickedge, I agree about Pakistan. It seems to have been the aberration in his career analysis however.

Apart from Pakistan, the bloke has shown that he only performs when there is no pressure on the situation or against shoite bowling attacks.
You are sure Bell was a frequent top scorer when we posted low totals? I'd like to see those stats once you've made them up!
