Re: The Wimbledon Thread
I'd like to see Venus win but I think Serena is the superior player.

I'm routing for Venus. Seems like the nicest person and she smiles more.
Nicer ear rings too.

Seems I got them muddled up. I want the one with straight hair to win. Is that Venus?

Re: The Wimbledon Thread
Very boring match. I endured the rugby match between two of our local teams with the kitchen animal and only changed channels every now and again.

Demelza wrote:I enjoy watching the ball boys and girls more than anything.
Any specific reason for that?
Another question .... why doesn't the Duchess of Kent attend Wimbledon any more?
The kitchen animal is having a heart attack - he is watching his home team (The Blue Bulls) playing rugby against The Sharts (Natal team). Charlie (the parrot) must be picking up some choice words and tomorrow I shall be hearing every single one of them.

Well done to 14 year old Briton Laura Robson for winning Junior Wimbledons girls title.

Re: The Wimbledon Thread
Aye. Watched Robson. Did pretty well against an older opponent. I dread the ridiculous amounts of hype that shall now ensue though...
Leave her alone and let her develop.
And I didn't think the ladies final was that boring. There were some cracking shots and some great volleys. With 5 singles titles, Venus must now be one of the greatest Wimbledon Champions ever. She's making centre court her own.
Venus won't reach Navratilova's 9 singles titles but she's got a good chance of matching Billie Jean King's 6 and even Steffi Graf's 7.

Men's final has started.
If the first game is anything to go by this is going to be terrific.

Rafa breaks! This could be one of the great finals. Can't remember the last time I looked forward to a tennis match this much.
Btw, this is a true test of Federer's claims to be a great champion. Break down and under pressure from an unbelievable player, can he fight back? Always thought Fedex was a great front runner but let's see how he does if he goes a set down.
