No, LLL. Just going by radio report (on lines of JKL's description).

Meanwhile, Northants're back in. Trying to save the game. Shite weather. Perfect for a collapse.
No chance!
Crap day at Uxbridge ... weather always threatening.....cold ...
then when it was all over, the farking sun came out!
Was a time in the beer tent we all thought "'Alo 'Alo ... Cobblers dun n dusted bar the rain"..
And then Mr Porky and his Jarpie mate waded in.
Klussner was in serious hitting mood ... great to watch, knowing that chances were
always gonna be there ... but no .. the bugger batted well.
PS... Fink - Sales does look a wee bit on the burly side mate,
But he doesn't half time the ball well and hits it hard.
Deffo worth England consideration ... shame his face doesn't fit.
PPS - well done Scotty ... CC avge now up to 29 plus

Balls to all that well considered and cautious stuff from Mr Gloop above, I've just finished working and am enjoying a beer before hitting the hay, so . . .

Typical Fred, no? He's never been the most secure of batsmen. Good to see the big fella finding some batting form. He's at his best when he just goes out there and has fun, and doesn't try to think like a batsman. Just pick the bat up and hit the ball.

Cheers Merlot. Always good to hear from someone whose been there.
TBH I was surprised we only finished 3 down, though our two best batsmen were at the crease. Seems it could've been an exciting finish were it not for the rain interruptions.

Would definitely have been close had we not lost 30 overs mate,
though as time wore on and the sun started to heat up, the odds
gradually moved in favour of Northants - chasing 200 ish at tiny
Uxbridge was well within Sales and Klussners scope - given the mood both were in!
Almost 1300 for 33 wickets runs in 3.5 days play!
A bit of everything for all there.
Sexies upto 2nd spot in Div 2.... but there's just 5 points separating 2nd from 6th!

Yeah, a close one this season I feel. Warks are nowhere near sorted even though they're 20 points clear. All in all, should be a good season for CC cricket.
Re: English county season 2008 (IV)
Can't look beyond Worcs for one of the top 2 spots imo.
Bowling is a class above a lot of the sides in Div 2

So what would that cost Nikki financially? What's an overseas player of reasonable calibre worth per English County season?holcs wrote:Hussey told to rest - Voges stays at Notts

Yeah for half the season would be about 60K I would have thought. Full season your looking at 120K+!

I heard down the grapevine the other day what Henderson at Leics is on. I spat my pint out all over the floor in shock at it! Outrageous money really.

So what about players like Stubbings, Wagg, Lungley, Pipe, and Clare? Do they also get paid in real money?

What would a very young county player be getting? Let's say Billy Godleman...What would he be on? 40,000 a season?

David Hussey, according to two separate sources, is on either £60k (Guardian) at Nottinghamshire, or £69k (India Times). The probable truth is that neither of them know, though you'd think the Grauniad is closer.

MEK Hussey was only on £100K at Durham and Gloucs(or whichever dross team he was playing for). We couldn't afford that. Damien Wright wanted 90K.

First year 24k probably - he'll have had a pay hike this year. At most 30K if that. Merls would know more.
Capped players tend to be 40k+
Top capped players 60k+
