Suppose SA are one of the more fortunate sides in that they've been able to give the Banglas a couple of clear dickings. And tank some flat-arsed shit in India. Let's not go overboard.

Yes, and England played NZ for most of 2008.

See, I'm not mud-slinging - so as a rebuttal, that was pretty shit. It doesn't detract from my last statement.

Interesting. Touring India was once seen as one of the toughest assignments around. Now it's seen as the perfect opportunity to pad the batting averages.

If one were to go solely by that table then runs made in Bangladesh would be worth a great deal more than runs made in Australia. Which is clearly nonsense.

I was saying Chennai, dead track; Ahmedabad, dead track. I think the SA batsmen are resolute and have plenty of talent.
I was just saying after battering them, they're bound to have decent stats.

Indeed. Of course every game played in Bangladesh includes the shithouse Bangle batsmen whereas every game in Aust includes the Aust batsmen.

So, after playing well in India we're bound to have decent stats? Okay, I'll buy that.

Sure, on 2 flat tracks you batted well. If you didn't, it would've been like the fiasco that happened in the 1st innings at Lords.
Re: Smith in 2008
if you were to solely go by that table...
some limited analysis and thought will tell you why bangladesh is so low down on that list
what it does tell you though that there is hardly any noticeable difference in average runs per wicket across most countries
excluding all minnow tests

Is this the same flat track that India got bowled out for less than 100 on?

That was good bowling and poor batting. Nothing else. Some brilliance from Steyn and Morkel. The next two innings were indicative that it was a good deck.
Re: Smith in 2008
SA have played the most Tests this year. So it stands to reason they are all over that table.

I see. In that case, I declare the Chennai pitch to have been a greentop minefield, the resultant scores on which coming about from excellent batting and shite bowling.

If you want to be precious about it. I've already called the SA batsmen resolute and talented. I've just stated that they've had some good batting conditions this year.
Re: Smith in 2008
Well they say batsmen hit their peak in their late 20s, maybe Smith is entering that period now.
