Judo doesn't exactly make great viewing does it?

Craig Fallon continues GB's woes in that sport anyway. He's 'oot of the chase for a bronze.

Mens 81kg & 100kg are our best chances in Judo.

Cor Sharon Davies is looking older these days... I once gave her a hug when she came to our school to present some medals.

How many different cycling events are there?

The weightlifter can say that for her division she is the best in the entire world. There is no one else who is better. Go to every country, find any woman under that weight and none of them can lift as heavy a weight as she can.

Ditto no-one can run as fast as whoever wins the 100m, jump as far as whoever wins the long jump. Which is what the Olympics is all about.

I dare say weight-lifting is closer to the original Ancient Greek idea of the Olympics than cycling is.

Doesn't stop either from being damn boring to watch, but there you go...

They should have weightlifting cycling.

That would sort out the women from the boys.

Another event that used to confuse me was the clean and jerk.

Whereas any fool could tell you it should be jerk, THEN clean.

Women weren't allowed to compete at the Ancient Olympics.

So-so start by the Aust swimmers so far. Hackett looked off the pace, so did Trickett although Schipper and Rice looked sharp.

Britains Hannah Miley qualifies for the 400m ind. Medley. Don't know why the Beeb are bigging her up so much, she's not got a prayer of a medal.

She did finish 2nd in the world short-course champs.

As someone not big on Swimming whats the difference?

Short course is in a 25m pool. Bigging her up for that is like picking Nathan Bracken to open the bowling for Aust in Tests because of his JAMODI record.

I just watched the heats of the 400mIM, the Brit lass has no chance.

They swim the same distance but over more laps, 'cause the pool's shorter. More turns. Different style of racing.

Ta.

We've not got many olympic size pools in this country. No wonder we have a decent record over short-course.

Thought you'd be good at open-water swimming - it's that effing cold you'd want to go as fast as possible to get out of the water as soon as possible.

We may be lots of things but we're not stoopid. You don't get in there in the first place!

Our last Olympic Swimming gold was in 1988
