Banjos have lost 6/39 to Mighty Wrighty and Nannes.

Qld all out for 245 after losing their last 8 wickets for 59 runs.

There are some storm clouds appearing in the south-west. Dunno if they are heading towards the Gabba but it was predicted yesterday.

Vics 2/29 at stumps with Hodge failing. Nice to see Qld giving specialist no 11 Doran another game.

Dunno why they keep picking Doran. Whenever I have seen him bowl, he doesn't look up to FC standard although I read that he is bowling a little quicker this season & has improved. Still, as Nath pointed out, he mightn't get many overs anyway if the conditions are favouring the seamers. It would have been better to play an extra specialist batsman. They currently have seven blokes in the team who regularly bowl.

The guys that do bat in 1-6 appear to be either all rounders or duds ...

God the Gabba can serve up some tough batting conditions.

Lee Carseldine made a ton in a Franger Cup the other day. Nathan Reardon is in form. Aaron Nye makes heaps of runs in grade cricket but has never been given an extended go in the Shield team. Wade Townsend is promising. Nick Kruger has yet to show up at Shield level but is a heavy scorer in grade cricket. Glen Batticiotto is another decent batsman in the state squad. Michael Buchanan smashed 98 on the weekend.

None of them seem particularly classy but hopefully one or two of them can make useful runs at shield level this year. We might be needing one next match because Martin Love injured a groin during his innings today.

I guess if Doran wasn't in the team, Swan would be at #11 & he made 76* in the first game to save our bacon & he has also hit a couple of centuries in grade cricket. I just don't like Doran & also feel Simpson is better suited at #7 than #6.

BTW Andy Bichel bowled five overs on the weekend so he might be in the reckoning in a month or so. Another all-rounder!
