Onomatopoiea is spelling a word the way it sounds. Like 'quack', 'woof' or 'moo'.

Don't know what the word is for what Fred describes.

I always thought 'spiv'' was a close second to 'curmudgeonly'.

aah...finally some understanding...curmudgeon and cantankerous are apt descriptions of myself...but then again I have age as an excuse

spiv is something different ... a slithering RD mouthed bogan that slides around luxuriating in a persona that is somewhat lacking...ie spiv=a packer=a nawab

I'll wear curmudgeonly, though cantankerous and irrational(curmudgeonly's meaning) is best applied to horrie, but I won't wear spiv.

FWIW, get back to TI. As far as I'm concerned you could draw a semi-circular line from the coast just south of Gympie to the NSW border just west of Twin Towns and let the rest of the country fight over it's rancid spoils.
