WAT Beer
No, I'm not offering to get the rounds in, but recently I've been watching the England U19 vs New Zealand U19 ODI series shown on Sky and a certain Leggy called William Beer has caught my attention. Along with James Harris who is clearly Englands brightest prospect of the U19 crop at the moment, Beer seem's to be doing something very right at his level, got 6/53 in the 1st test against NZ which wiped the floor with the Kiwi batting line up and won England the match. (It was at Taunton aswell and from what I know, is a very batsmen friendly surface).
In hindsight, I'm sure he'll have us England followers salivating at the mouths once he starts taking Wickets at first class level. There's the possibility of him getting tonked and therefore rejected like Rashid is close to being now, but I can see Beer being on the verge of England cricket in many years to come, especially if Rashid and Monty go wrong somewhere and Swann doesn't deliver.
Charles Colville also got very excited about Beer's initials, which could also mean another Nicholarse is also in the pipeline.

Aye Smerky, the more leggies coming through the better.
More chance of finding a gem.
Hope its him - it's a class name...

Jebus, wouldn't that be the ultimate irony? An English leggie helping the Old Dart to regain the Ashes!!

James Harris is pump. Just a weedy little medium pacer - think Paul Franks.
He won't make it.

I think these words will come back to haunt you - Harris looks a real prospect. He needs to fill out, but he is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I hardly think Adil is close to being 'tonked and rejected'. He's only 20 FFS! How many other English spinners at the age of 20 have 119 FC wickets at 34? - especially legspinners. Not to mention his batting and fielding.
I hope WAT Beer does well, all in the cause of comedy sporting names, but he's only 8 months younger than Rashid, who is still very much the cream of the crop.
Re: WAT Beer
I had a strange feeling that Adil was 23? I don't know why.

Re: WAT Beer
I'm flagging up this Thread in the height that an England selector will be reading this, and if Rashid is crocked, they'll have another Leggy to turn to.

I don't supppose the selectors have anything else to do at the moment

Doubt Ashley Giles will ever push a leggy for the England side.

Re: WAT Beer
Isn't the problem with young Pommy leggies who might be good that there aren't any County captains who have the faintest idea how to captain them.

Anyway, looking forward to a time where Beer, Onions and Mustard are in the same team. I guess you could also get Sanga to make a guest appearance.

That, and at the first sign of anyone who can bowl leggies - assume they must get in the test side asap. IDK Salisbury.

Re: WAT Beer
There are a few young spinners in the Sussex set up, so they're doing something right.
We've got a young lad currently playing in our first team who was this year the only new entrant to the Sussex Academy. He's only 16, so we've got high hopes.

Re: WAT Beer
According to the Telegraph, WAT Beer is having a "masterclass" with Warnie at the Oval this week.
Expect him to start gluing his hair on and bothering loose women in the not too distant future...

He's from Crawley. One stroll around the County Mall and you'd understand he'll already know everything there is to about loose women.

Decent bowler, obviously Smerkles is claiming him as one of his picks but I'm sure he'd got a mention as one to look out for earlier

Re: WAT Beer
Will Beer can feel a bit disheartened that he isn't the beer on everyone's lips at the moment.
Is it to late for him to be drafted in?
The headlines would be riotous. Beer to Beer.
