So has it been widely acknowledged in England that this had gone on in Ashes 05 or is Trescothick just drawing unnecessary attention to a ploy England might have loved to try again in Ashes 09.

Well we could ban a fielder having anything on hi person that could influence the action of the ball. MLB got over it years ago .

You would need to ban polishing the ball altogether.

They've even introduced material that does the same job into clothing now...

at the end of the day its all about skill.

A scratch here and there, sweet saliva etc doesn't make that big of a difference.
