Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
Looks like Hicky has played his last game for us. His elbow injury flared up after Sunday's game, and is rated as unlikely for tomorrow's CC game against Middlesex and the Pro40 play-off on Sunday.

I was actually laughing at the demeanour of Gus' post, but if you're grudgy little bitter shit like yourself, fair do's.
I've already maintained earlier in the season that Notts're probably the best team in England. That I admired their constant recruitment drives from other clubs.
Furthermore, I've never alluded to N'Hants being some bad daddy team - not as if I said 'Ha ha Notts, wahey Northants'. What I'd love to add though, is that it's damned likely that we've been more in Div 1 of the Pro40 than Notts have, so I'd hardly call us 'Double'. But there we go.
Still, the more that teams who are supported by jingoistic slabheads like you lose the better. Keeps the superiority complex down.
Swift to dish out, but woe betide those with the temerity to give some back.
It'll be on your gravestone.

All I see is a by-product of Colin Montgomerie and years and years of incestuous upper class inter-breeding.

Think what you like Bob, it's quite clear you haven't got much about you. Simple bloke. You just rinsed Northants and I concurred for the most part - as is clear in the post. I also pointed out that at various stages this season that Notts are no doubt the best team in the land. But again, that's you - no concessions, no acknowledgement - this place is just a sounding board for your bawdy, hand-waving shit. I know where I'd rather my team be too, where Notts are - it's a no brainer. I'm just glad that my team's fans in a similar ilk to you aren't posting on here as it'd be a poorer place. That Notts loss is tasting more and more sweet with the more you post.

Yeah, right.
You had a poke at Notts, I had a poke back at Northants.
With most posters on here, my response would be accepted as light-hearted banter, all concerned would have a chuckle and that would the end of it.
In your case though, there's never any chance of that and you immediately resort to the personal abuse:-

Amazing that any other content in your post would be overshadowed by this, eh? Or perhaps not.
You're an entertaining poster, but you're also one huge farkin' hypocrite with a giant chip on your shoulder large enough to have prevented the Irish potato famine.

Splendid news from Durham, and Slurrey have lost a couple of wickets already, though Scott Newman seems to have an end of season, demob happy slogathon going on.
48* off 45 balls in a total 66/2 off 14 overs.

No. I was amused by Notts, but it was Gus' major implosion in his miserable fashion that made me chuckle. You're just so grudgy and were so bitter about it(you aren't all the time) you thought you'd bring 'sooky-la-la' down a peg or two by mentioning something I've said most weeks - Northants are mediocre. Then wanked at the 'brilliance' of Notts. To say it was light-hearted banter would fool no-one. Bollocks. I have light-hearted banter with many a poster, including about Northants. You're just not one of them because of some misplaced superiority complex. You aren't a bitter and grudgy shit - I take that back. But there's no doubt in my mind that you're a jingoistic slabhead.
Banter indeed.
Pathetic.

How is this grudgy and bitter?
Looks pretty light-hearted to me. Hence the use of the smilies to illustrate the fact.
Can't think of a single other poster on here who would have gone off like a cannon in response as you did.
Just another case to add to the volumes that have gone before where you've read what you wanted to rather than what was actually written. Seems like it's you who's harbouring the grudge to me.
You need to count to ten before you go off on one, dude.

Well Robert, I'll have to try my hardest to get your style, because I just don't see it that way. Apologies if it's misunderstood.
As for the smilies, they mean shit.

Would it help to smooth things over if I wrote a eulogy on the athleticism of David Sales?

No. Just when you analyse him, you don't ignore facts. Then we'd be reet on track.
Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
To be fair the leg pulling aside, on several occasions I have said that: -
a) There are points in his career where I would have picked him for England, and
b) He's perhaps unfortunate to have been consistently overlooked.

Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
Here's an old chestnut.
Which description should be regarded as that which applies to the quicker bowler?
Ealham (rmf)
AR Adams (rfm)
Personally, I think that RMF is quicker, as the implication is that the bowler is Fast, but only Medium-Fast, whereas RFM has the implication of being Medium, but Fast-Medium.
E.G.
A green apple is still an apple, but it is green as opposed to say, red.
Whereas apple green would imply that is the colour green, but that the shade is 'apple'.
Is this how it is applied to bowlers? Not sure that the comparison between Adams and Ealham is a particularly helpful one to decide in this instance as I'd have thought you could barely put a cigarette paper between their respective bowling speeds nowadays.

Me too.
For me it goes Right-arm Fast-medium. Which implies Right-arm Fast. Medium.
Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
Aye - well cricket muddies the waters either way, when you consider that we have bowlers who are described as: -
Slow Left Arm, and
Left Arm Fast
But rarely / never: -
Fast Left Arm, and
Left Arm Slow

In regards to the LAs, it's probably latent prejudice. As left-handed people were seen as weirdos. We all know the chinaman story, was probably compounded by the fact he was left-handed.
