Re: Ryder Cup
Seppos now 3-1 up in the fourballs with a few holes left in each
Could be 6-2 after the first day...
Love this quote about the fans
Could be 6-2 after the first day...
Love this quote about the fans
"I saw my first beer drinker at about 0815 and having just back in from the course I can report that the combination of a day's boozing and hot sun is having its effect on a fair proportion of the crowd. In some extreme cases, sleep has already taken them into its clutches. The guys dressed as Spanish matadors are definitely feeling the pace and the Irish leprechauns look a touch bedraggled. It's not had an adverse effect on behaviour levels, though, apart from the strange ones who just stand there making loud but totally unintelligible noises. I think they're called Americans."

Re: Ryder Cup
P!ss poor putting by the Euros generally. Seppos were sinking theirs whilst the Euros were missing by milimeters ... the way it goes I suppose.
The course is a doddle for the pros it seems - practically every player shot multiple birdies - 'cept Ben Curtis. The Spanish pair just weren'y firing were they ?!
Euros need to pull their finger out today though ... if they drop another 2 points today then Sunday's going to be a wash out with the determined way Mikelson, Furyk, Leonard, Mahan, Campbell and Kim are playing.

Why does some Seppo idiot always scream "Get in the hole"?
Even when they are teeing off at a par 5

9-7 to the US after 2 days.
Europe need to win 7 of the 12 singles to retain the cup

Re: Ryder Cup
All went pear shaped - and now, as expected from the media here, Faldo is the villain.
Not the fact that the Seppos played out of their skin to win the Cup with consumate ease in the end ....

Watching last night, the seppos sank every put possible. Oliver Wilson carded 4 or 5 under and got d1cked!!! Hardly Faldo's fault!!!

Charlie, they hardly missed a putt in the entire competition.

Re: Ryder Cup
Aye, infact Faldos strategy may have even still paid off if Europe had pulled off a couple of shocks in the first 6 matches.
At the time the match was still live Europe were well up in 3 of the last 4 games.

Re: Ryder Cup
Didn't get to watch it all, but the seppos putted superbly.
Could have been different had Casey and Hansen holed their chances.
Just seemed the seppos took theirs and the Euro's didn't.
Still much closer than the score shows IMO.

Re: Ryder Cup
Aye, I would have loved to have seen Faldo win the Cup - sadly it's the only real blemish on an otherwise brilliant career.
he had a plan - chose his team well - they played great golf.
The Americans played marginally better, and crucially, the Seppos putts went down, ours kept missing by millimeters.
The crowd were, as usual, sh!t rabble - I don't mind partisan, expect it even, but cheering missed Euro putts summed up their crassness.
And then Azinger tells us solemnly what a respectful gallery they were. FFS.
Bugger - two years to wait now ...

Re: Ryder Cup
At the end of the day Faldo's picks worked.
His major players were not at the races.
And the seppos putters were on fire all weekend. Nowt more you can do really.

Re: Ryder Cup
Aye - agree with all of the above.
Superb standard of golf from both sides, but the States deserved their win.
Great sporting spectacle as usual spoilt only by the morons in the galleries, and a couple of apparent in breds brandishing irons and putters to some effect.
Mentioning no names . . . booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Re: Ryder Cup
Only the US's 4th win in quarter of a century. In the previous 56 years they only failed to win 4 times.
I suppose the reason for the change is pretty obvious.
