Not with a bang, or even a whimper, but a sickening THUD!
Is this how it ends?
Will the result in the match just finished be noted as the day the Aussie's reign at the top of the tree came to an end?
Or is it going to be something like the 05 Ashes? Incredibly painful, but a spur to better things...
Alas, it seems to be the former, given:
Glad we're playing the sNooZers after this series is done...

Alas, it seems to be the former, given:
- Pathetic collapses with the bat
- A bowling attack that is most undeserving of the label 'attack'
- A captain who has seemingly resumed his clueless position
- A so-called 'strike' bowler who has reverted to 'I'll bowl really fast and I don't have to do anything else'
Glad we're playing the sNooZers after this series is done...

I wouldn't order the wreath just yet! Playing India in India is about as hard as it gets, and sometimes results over there need to be seen in isolation.
Agree about Ponting's captaincy though - one-dimensional at best.

India didn't too badly on its last tour of Aus.

It will be like the late 80's-early 90's for Australia again, I reckon. They'll still be very hard to beat at home and in places like England and South Africa where there is help for the seamers and true pitches for the batsmen, but they'll be consistently beaten on the Sub Continent. They may even find Bangladesh a struggle with their slow dry pitches and nagging left arm spinners.

Most embarrassing effort since Mick Lewis' 0-113 or whatever it was.

Didn't Aus get 400+ in that game?

I said on the last tour. They don't play multiple series in a single tour.

I do remember that young Zimmi once had a tag suggesting that it been many years since india had won a series against a non minnow outside the subi

This Australian side is FAR from the best we have been able to put on the park in the last 20 years. I think it is very safe to say that the post-TGM (plural) malaise has finally hit us.
However, we will still be competitive. India is not a place that you can go and compete unless you are at your very best (as we where in 2004-05).
I won't slash the wrists just yet, but would feel less inclined to do so if we could put some time and effort into developing a world class spin bowler. We will never again see the likes of Warnie, but an offie or LAO who can keep it tight and nab 2 or 3 wickets would be a blessing.
ShyTYT should have played his last Test.

they were tricked out of a series victory .. is what SG meant.

Since SG didn't say that India had won the series, nor did his statement have any relevance to any other series, I can't see what the point of your post is.

India was good in subi and pretty ordinary elsewhere.
Now India are good everywhere .. why don't you face that for a minute.
Re: Not with a bang, or even a whimper, but a sickening THUD!
Past years India have won in West Indies
India have won in Australia (and that too at the famed Perth)
India have won in England
India has won in South Africa
that's just for starters ..
from hereon India starts winning series everywhere

he said they played well over here...not my view...they failed to win the series...as they always fail here (memory just returned)

Nonetheless SG was correct. They did play well last summer and, after the first test, were the better side.
In cricket, thank God, winning isn't everything.

so they failed with panache - they have decades of practice at that...
not a universally held view that India was the better team

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but, however you look at it, the series was close and India played well (after the first test).
