True.
Played 13
Won 1
yes .. but saffies had to dig pretty deep last time to escape with a series victory ..
like leaving a running hose on the covers and letting water seep into the pitch during an Indian Innings.
they then lost that one.

Um remind me of the last pitch we got in India. It was so bad even the spineless, toothless ICC condemned it.

Trust horrie not to understand that, tya.ten years after wrote:horace wrote:I dont recall india winning the last test series here....i know I am rather old and forgetful so perhaps you could be helpful and remind me how many test series has India ever won in Australia?
Since SG didn't say that India had won the series, nor did his statement have any relevance to any other series, I can't see what the point of your post is.

Which they did. Without a doubt. Ask anyone from THAT Australian team and they'd confirm that.he said they played well over here...

None. But you fail to recognise the Bucknor-Syndrome. It is quite a challenge to be honest with yourself, isn't it?

I think that in the last BGC, India and Australia were seriously about level, despite the series result.

As Spanky has just pointed out- Australia last legitimately beat India in the boxing day test.

That sounded like a Russian acronym for a counter intelligence unit. SMERSH, KGB, LATSBUPODH.

Re: Not with a bang, or even a whimper, but a sickening THUD!
I thought India played pretty well on their recent Oz tour and gave Oz a very good run for their money. I agree that as the tour progressed the teams appeared increasingly equal if not India nudging it at the end. The Indian trajectory seems to be on the up from before the Oz tour.
It is a bit acinine to make a comment on how well a team played solely on the end score of the series.
So if India play poorly and Oz get it together for the next 2 tests, but India manage to hold on for grim draws through stirling rearguard actions (say combined with dumb declarations) would you simply look at the end scoreline and say India won the series 1-0 therefore they were the better team and Oz did not play well?
Oz should have won the first test. They could yet show that the second test was "a blip" without managing to win either of the next 2 tests.
So...India played damn well in Oz recently and it would appear to have been a portent of things to come........IMHO.

they played well in the jamodis...neither side played great cricket in the test series...Australia were OK in the first drawn test and clearly beaten by a better side over the five days of the second test.
my point is that India has never been able to win a series here -...they have had the odd good win in an individual test and (recently) have been competitive..
India's record at home is pretty good...but unless they can consistently win away series (outside the subi con) they will continue to graded as B - B+ team.

The thud continues to echo. Congrats to South Africa, soon to be World #1, and I suspect Australia may well be legitimately regarded as #3 by about April.
