Re: Ramps Watch
Miller and Graveney will pick the squad after the ODIs in conjuction with Vaughan and Moores.
If I was a betting man, I wouldn't imagine Vaughan will back Ramprakash's selection, and Peter Moores had this to say the other day:
That seems to be pretty good hint that Shah's in the frame.
If that's the case then, along with the six recently centrally contracted batsmen, that'll be the squad. No Ramprakash.
If Vaughan and Moores don't want him, and Graveney maintains his quite pathetic claim that he's never had to use his power to cast a deciding vote, I don't see how he'll fit in.
But you never know...
If I was a betting man, I wouldn't imagine Vaughan will back Ramprakash's selection, and Peter Moores had this to say the other day:
“The Test squad is a work in progress,” Moores said. “When Grav was out here it was a good place to sit down and talk.
“We have a pretty clear idea already of the shape of that team. When Grav went back he can now sit down with Geoff Miller and Michael knowing that when I get back we’ll sit down knowing exactly where everybody is fitness-wise and what sort of shape the team should have.
“Owais has shown his game is suited to all conditions, he’s a skilful player.
“He has also shown that he plays at his best when he plays simple shots early on.
“That’s what he’s starting to learn, that when he keeps hitting good areas, there’s a simple run on he’ll take it and he leaves his more expansive shots to be played at the end.
“Talented players know when to take simple options and he’s certainly doing himself no harm. We’ll see, but his emergence as a player has been interesting to watch over the last three months.”
That seems to be pretty good hint that Shah's in the frame.

Re: Ramps Watch
I was dissappointed Ramps did the same 'getting old now' dance he did in last years final on strictly ballroom the other night. He's not pushing himself...

Re: Ramps Watch
And he's off to a fantastic start with 118 against Lancashire at the Oval, signalling his readiness for a recall to the England side...
however Michael Vaughan continues to express his concern that picking a batsman with a proper technique who makes more runs than him will make him look a complete arse, while no matter how many runs Bell and Collingwood make he still has a nicer cover drive, which is sufficient to justify continued selection.

Maybe. But he definitely benefits from playing at the oval rather than Leeds. And Vaughan shits all over him at the highest level (which was in repsonse to Leos bit of sledging directed towards Vaughan)

Re: Ramps Watch
Out for a second ball blob today to the future great Danny "I'm not Liam Plunkett - honestly" Evans.
Should've been out for zip against Lancs as well, but for Luke Sutton's total ineptitude with the gloves.
He's losing it...

Re: Ramps Watch
It's funny how some players become "better" once they've stopped playing. Take Jack Russell for example - he's often held up as an example of some sort of wicketkeeping icon and yet I would struggle to put in him on the top ten of keepers I have seen.
Likewise Graeme Hick - I'm as guilty as anyone about eulogising him recently - and yet the fact remains that he had an ordinary test career

Some people on here genuinely wanted Graeme Hick to be included in England's world cup squad last year. Good times.

Me included Henry - I would also have picked Dominic Cork. Would we have done any worse? I think not.

Wholeheartedly agree that we couldn't have done any worse. Some of those picks were totally unfathomable.

Get real, taips, Ramps is better than Shiv Chanderpaul . . . but not as good as Michael Clarke.

Re: Ramps Watch
The great, legendary and magnificent Mark Ravin Ramprakash amassed a typically supreme 123 off 245 balls against Sussex last week. The feeble Sussex trundlers were no match for the champion, who hit 15 majestic boundaries in his marvellous innings.
