Greg Chappell is GSC. Dave Warner is GCS.
And after Warner's explosive debut that set the world on fire his subsequent innings have shown that the Yarpies might have just worked him out.
There is no place for a Grade Cricket Slogger in international cricket.
Shame on the selectors for caving to the Spiv press hype.

I think caving in to spiv press hype is the first selection criteria for an Oz selector.

Yep. And it's eve sucked in a couple of the normally more level-headed forumers here, too.

Re: Greg Chappell is GSC. Dave Warner is GCS.
Has looked ordinary against Steyn the past two matches. Seems to have limited, or no footwork when the ball is moves off the seam.
Opening in the higher forms of cricket you can't expect to get flat pitches every time and with attacking fields it becomes a different ball game.
It's hard to believe that some ex-players were calling for him to be given a chance on the Ashes tour. Surely he has to play some first class cricket and the jury is out on his greater worth until he succeeds there on a consistent basis.

The only difference between T20 and backyard cricket is the six and out rule and maybe one T20 should think of adpoting as a way to improve batting standards.

Interesting because that first innings seemed to be all leg-side fare but then he came out the next day and said he was equally capable on the off.

But how long will the epic pic last without the asterix in the bottom line?

Re: Greg Chappell is GSC. Dave Warner is GCS.
feel a bit sorry for the kid....has received more bosting publicity than gary gilmour - and not just from the spiv media....in sydney grade cricket this year he averages 50 from 5 knocks - one of which was a massive century while he failed in the other 4 knocks.
some dolts have been boosting him to be selected for the test team...a sure way to cruel any long term chance he may have...his technique is a baseball model of clearing the front leg and hoiking to the on side ...unless he is able to apply some semblance of standard technique he will struggle for consistency in the shorty pyjama game let alone the other forms of the game

I hope it is not the end for him OP...the lad obviously has some solid talent...he just needs time to develop or apply a technique to match the talent.

The piece of used toilet paper that calls itself "The West Australian" was calling for Marsh to be the Test Opener because of his innings in Friday's JAMODI ....

Re: Greg Chappell is GSC. Dave Warner is GCS.
Warner is worth sticking with in the absence of young alternatives. He got a good ball yesterday.
Talk of Tests is of course ludicrous.
Surely YT's position is more tenuous (although his bowling didn't suck yesterday).
And Hopes' batting seems to have gone down hill a bit too.
