The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Thoroughly enjoyable test that one . Might have to watch JT's once in a lifetime spell on youtube now. KP's and Prior's off stump cartwheeling towards the boundary as the batsmen stand there shell shocked, every ball heading towards off stump at 90mph.
Who would have thought England would win the Ashes with KP injured, Flintoff would retire and Stuart Broad would become a test class cricketer (still a spoiled brat though).
On the other hand all hell would break loose in the West Indies, nobody who played in this test would feature in the series against Bangladesh and only Devon Smith (the worst player involved) would be in our ICCCT squad. Maybe this was slightly more predictable because everyone saw how unbelievably crap the WICB are at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

BTW WIFAN -
Any news on what's happening to the Stanford Stadium in Antigua?
Now that the maverick is incarcerated, will that mean that the Govt of Antigua will pass legislation to claim all his assets in lieu of his pilfering of a few million quid off the islanders?
Would be nice coz that's a superb stadium (and great strip), if not a wee bit on the small side both in size and crowd capacity.

That was the situation as of a few weeks ago. For example, the Stanford headquarters in Antigua are being sold and the WICB is rumoured to be one of the organisations interested in the landmark building.
The ground would certainly be good for 20/20 internationals and FC matches so I really hope the Antiguan government choose to hand over or sell the stadium to the WICB (though I wonder how quickly it will become unusable with them in charge).

So maybe some good for WI cricket will come of it? Given that Stanford effectively anally raped it, I hope things work out well.
Now, can something similar be arranged for anyone else who was involved in the 'invention' of t20 cricket?

Can't you just feel the energy and excitement for the upcoming JAMODI series Eng v Aus, after the pulsating Ashes. Just sums up what real cricket fans thinks.
Unfortunately real cricket fans don't count anymore, replaced by the mindless 30 second attention span generation.

So this would have been the Windies last win. It's very disappointing to see them in their current position after such an outstanding performance just seven months ago.

There is a possibility of another topbottom. I think I might now be up to five threads but I am tiring quickly. It is gone midnight & I don't think I can stay awake for much longer.

Song of the Buckaroo
Director: Albert Herman
AMG Rating:
Genre: Western
Movie Type: Musical Western
Main Cast: Tex Ritter, Mary Ruth, Tom London, Frank LaRue
Release Year: 1939
Country: US
Run Time: 58 minutes
Plot
An above-average entry in the Monogram Tex Ritter series of music Westerns, Song of the Buckaroo proved to be a memorable event for the star in more ways than one. Appearing in a small role of a pioneer woman, pretty Dorothy Fay was killed off early on, leaving the remainder of the film to glamorous former Powers model Jinx Falkenburg. Miss Fay, however, became Ritter's leading lady off-screen, a partnership that lasted a lifetime and would produce future television star John Ritter. Song of the Buckaroo featured Ritter as Texas Dan, a Robin Hood-like outlaw hunted by the law. Determined to go straight, Tex is framed in the murder of Alden (Dave O'Brien and his wife Anna (Miss Fay) by a former cohort, Max Groat (Charles King). Tex assumes Alden's identity and determines to raise the Aldens' little daughter Mary (Mary Ruth) as his own. Having become the respected banker and mayor of a small town, Tex's engagement to lovely Evelyn (Miss Falkenburg) is rudely interrupted by Groat, who forces him to assist in robbing his own bank. In the ensuing melee, Groat and his men are killed, leaving Tex free to pursue happiness with Evelyn and little Mary. The latter performed the title tune while Ritter himself took care of Texas, by Carson Robison, Tenderfoot, by Johnny Lange and Fred Stryker, and his own and Frank Harford's I Promise You. Discovered too late to replace Jinx Falkenburg, Dorothy Fay was instead cast as Ritter's leading lady in his next entry, Sundown on the Prairie).

The Buckaroo Kid
Director: Lynn Reynolds
Genre: Western
Main Cast: Burr McIntosh, Newton House, James Gordon, Harry Todd, Ethel Shannon
Release Year: 1926
Run Time: 64 minutes
Plot
Universal's humorously sloppy western hero Hoot Gibson starred in this average silent oater about a rugged ranch foreman who must prove his true worth in order to marry a banker's daughter (Ethel Shannon). As usual, Gibson played his character for laughs, and this film only added to his popularity. Buckaroo Kid was also an early showcase for freckled child actor Newton House, the star of the studio's popular "Champion Boy Rider" two-reel westerns 1927-1928.
