At home in his stable.
He is quite sharp and also has the ability to get reverse swing

I would have played him ahead of Broad. I know its slightly risky to play both Mahmood and Harmison in the team but this risk is worth taking.

Don't make me farking laugh with this Sajid Mahmood rubbish. He is utter carp and you know it. All this business about "he might" get reverse swing, but WHEN, when are we going to see Horse run in and reverse the ball? Certainly not in the next 2 to 3 years. The guy has had one good match (against Pakistan) and is never due for another. I wish people would stop pursuing this layabout. Shelve him like Plunkett, Onions and the rest of the maybes who are never likely to get into the England setup.

20 wickets @ 38: better stats than Broad

Broad has more potential.

It's about time he brought his strike rate and average down. Mahmood is equally deserving of a run in the side.

His action is better and more fluent. All Broad needs to do is bulk up. He might bowl the odd filthy delivery which heads to the boundary, but atleast he hits the strip.

the Big Mah Moo is the ace in the english sleeve and should certainly partner harmi as the opening combo in the ashes series...they will be too tough for our openers - the kid who has not started shaving and Damir Dokic

Saj for England, eh? Even a dyed in the wool Lanky like you must be smiling at that one.

But he's not doing what he's supposed to do. Unless he's rolling over third rate county players on helpful wickets, he never does. In fact the pace he's bowling at I'd rather play Anderson, at least he swings the ball now and again. Shocked

You sound like someone who has never even seen Mahmood bowl.

His action is rather good - in fact, it was the quality of his action which first had Troy Cooley, Rod Marsh and Dennis Lillee frothed up when they worked with him at the Academy.

Broad, on the other hand, is still doing remedial work on his action as he can't get it through his head that his floppy left arm is undermining his delivery accuracy and his balance at the crease.

Danny = batfink (if that's who you were jousting with)

Saj for England? Just not really consistent enough. He can be fast and penetrative though - rather more than some. More a comment on the others than on him, I admit.

Horace is just doing the WUM job, GT. Ignore him on England matters, and he mutters to himself.

Are you suggesting that what the England Selectors believe makes a quality cricketer is in some way representative of established fact?

Not at all, but why argue with England selectors. They are never going to understand the facts are they? But I think the one right move is to keep Saj out of the XI. We've got plenty more to make up for him.

Is Saj going through the motions right now of getting another England Test Call up? Is he playing winter cricket abroad?

I always thought...and stated that WI could and probably would spring a surprise. Unlike Augustus's insurance company actuarial, statistics approach; I have taken good notice of the more recent trends and attitudes of the players and team which have all been on the up of late.

Gayle, who can destroy an opposition in a session has been far more responsible with his talent of late and on another forum I predicted he would crucify us if we did not get the rub of the green.

Sarwan is the WI Bell, but a crucial difference is that he has produced the goods when it mattered.

If we don't get Chanderpaul out early tomorrow we will not win this match...oh...what he is also the top international cricketer ATM!!!!!!?????

Yeh, WI are a shit team and if you can't thrash them you are in trouble........FARK OFF...they are a team on the up

Or people remember that during your fledgling Test career - played against proper sides (SL, Pak, Aus) - you performed a darn sight better than Stuart Broad has, against - mostly - garbage opposition (seven of his eleven Tests against NZ and WI).

And then you remember that promising fast bowler who was the leading wicket-taker when England A last toured the WI...

And then you watch yet another desperately toothless, half-paced effort from the eternally disappointing Steve Harmison, look around for alternatives and only see the desperately toothless and utterly anodyne Jimmy Anderson waiting in the wings and you think it'd be nice if someone else was given a go.

I don't even understand that post. The selectors are always right? And they also don't understand what they're doing? But they're also right? Sometimes?

Brilliant.

Mahmood is in the Lions squad to NZ.
