Guess Who's Back, Back Again...
...Chris Schofield's back (forever):
England Performance Programme squad: Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Tim Ambrose (Warwickshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Leicestershire), Steven Davies (Worcestershire), Joe Denly (Kent), James Hildreth (Somerset), Phil Mustard (Durham), Graham Onions (Durham), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Chris Schofield (Surrey), James Tredwell (Kent), Chris Tremlett (Hampshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire), Luke Wright (Sussex).
Completely understandable really that a bright young talent like Chris is persevered with.

Re: Guess Who's Back, Back Again...
First time I've nicked anything off the Beeb - sorted now.
I thought Moeen Ali was the interesting choice. A prospect undoubtedly, but he hasn't played many FC matches, nor done much in them. A shoe-in for the One-Day stuff, but I'd have left him alone. I remember he scored a fifty against Hampshire (Warne) & against Sussex (Mushtaq), but surely that's not enough.
I think everyone else in the team has had a strong/reasonable season. No Samit Patel again...
...when will these selectors learn that Notts. boys do it best?

Three wicket keepers? Anyone would think England didn't have the slightest idea who should keep for the national side.
Weird that there's only three seamers as well. Plunkett and Mahmood were considered international bowlers just a few months back. Does this mean that England have given up on these two young players because they didn't happen to be world class from the get-go?
Is Samit Patel the new Owais Shah in the unfasionable stakes? I know he's a chunky monkey, but he's a young kid who scores heavily in all forms of the game. And I'd wager his rubbish part-time spin is still better than James Tredwell's.
I have nothing to add about Schofield's inclusion...
Re: Guess Who's Back, Back Again...
Although the lack of Swanny could be a good sign for the annoying twerp regarding the second-spinner's spot for Sri Lanka.
Re: Guess Who's Back, Back Again...
I reckon its just about confirmed Swann will be the 2nd spinner.
Probably a good thing for Rashid - he's not ready yet.

He might be ready...
But there's just no need to rush him through. Monty's a terrific Test bowler, Swanny's shaping up okay in the one-day game - for a change, England's spin cupboard is in half-decent shape.

The Eng A game would suggest otherwise, and whilst his bowling was great for an 19yr old leggie it didn't suggest he's a bout to tear up test cricket

Re: Guess Who's Back, Back Again...
Finn and Harris had already been named in the under 19s for the World Cup:
Alex Wakely (capt), Ben Brown (wk), Liam Dawson, Steven Finn, Billy Godleman, James Harris, James Lee, Stuart Meaker, Sam Northeast, Daniel Redfern, James Taylor, Tom Westley, Chris Woakes, Greg Wood (wk).
I'm sure they'll probably spend time at the national academy along with the development squad anyway.

You're sure that shouldn't be Radish?
