Re: The EPL thread (I)
arsenal 3 - sunderland 2
cracking match, arsenal had to score 5 (and hit the post twice) but 10th win in a row and 15 premier league games unbeaten....
sunderland will stay up i reckon, some good players and great team spirit

As long as they play football under Keane they have a chance.
Previous Sunderland teams have offered effort but not a lot else

a few injuries to some crucial players too ... but yes, they should and hope they do stay up.
Good for the Gooners ... they've got to keep a minimum of 3 to 6 points between them and Man Utd till past the New year at least, to keep pressure on the Scum.

novembers traditionally been our worst month and manure with rooney/ronaldo back and firing are starting to look good. nov-march is when they usually rarely drop a point. so yeah, weve got to maintain the gap

India just lost our WC qualifier first leg away at Lebanon. We were on a roll, score the first goal, kept it to 1-1 till the 75th minute and then typically lost our head and lost the game 4-1. FFS.

So then, about this Totti bloke. From what I can gather there's just me and Del that thinks he's gash. Oh, and all those nice people at FIFA of course...

ALERT! Just revived this thread as I have just found out England are playing Russia at 4pm (English time) today. I had no idea. So just if anyone else has been caught out or needs an excuse to bunk of work early...

Aye, the only day I'm on 'lates'. Basically, I'm resenting a few ****** here at work ATM and am pretty much near snapping. If I hear 'good game of football, that' and they're still around then I'm going to seriously consider dishing out a few 'beat downs'.
Re: The EPL thread (I)
Joy. We have it on in the office. Rodney just scored a peach. Don't worry about me Gary, I'll be as sound as f**k.
Re: The EPL thread (I)
Engerlund farked.... looks like they're out of the EC after losing 2-1 on the ice rink.

Defended far too deep throughout and in the end it came up and bit us in the bottom.
Seems like we're gonna have to cheer on Israel and Macedonia next month.

Re: The EPL thread (I)
Aye, didn't play well at all tbh, deserved what they got.
we're still playing like Middlesborough, 11 men behind the ball hacking it forward with no pattern of play.

If missing the Euros is what it takes to get a decent manager like Martin O'Neill in for the World Cup then at least there's a silver lining.
Re: The EPL thread (I)
Guus Hiddink is a genius. He's just got an incredible knack of getting his moderately talented teams to win the big matches. I doubt McLaren will survive this. Is Scholari available now?

Re: The EPL thread (I)
Haven't been particularly impressed by Russia to be honest, they were very shoddy at Wembley and Hiddink got the tactics wrong in the first half of this match. I think it was more a case of England bringing this on themselves.

Ruskies are still behind England and still have a bit to do.
I'd hold off on declaring him a genius until the group is finished.

2 very average teams tbh, neither capable of getting past the QF if they make it.

But you have to admit the guy is blessed with the ability to get moderately good teams like South Korea, Australia, and now Russia to punch well above their weight, whether it be by good tactics or sheer good fortune.

Re: The EPL thread (I)
Now watching Georgia versus Hearts on the Beeb.
And Georgia are showing a lamentable lack of good old fashioned numbers. Only one of their starting 11 has a reasonable number (No. 5) and the rest of them have numbers like 99, 90, 43 & 37
They can't have that many injuries can they?
But they're still doing enough to beat Hearts, 1-0 to Georgia.

England shouldn't be an average team though, with the players they have. Some of them really dominate in European football. If they weren't so bloody petrified of taking chances and playing with any flair they could be a real force. But its 3 years now since they've put in any sort of performance.
Re: The EPL thread (I)
Why was the England v Russia game played so early? Whats the time difference between Russia and England....2 hours? You'd think they could have started it at 8pm Russian time, meaning prime time in Russia, and the English fans being able to catch the game after work.

You mean Euro 2004? Even then we were predictably knocked out in the semi finals in a penalty shootout. Personally, I blame Frank Lampard for everything....

I've been hearing this since I was a kid.
Our media over-rates half our team like crazy. None of our back 4 had the technique of the ruskies defenders.
