New baby rules Prior out of 4th Test
Congratulations to him...or should that be Mr Stanford?
He's 'orf 'ome now, so Tiny back in the side for Bridgetown.

England selectors considering him for the number 6 position. FFS, we are so screwed. People are getting caps through no merit whatsoever...

Re: West Indies v England, 4th Test, Bridgetown - Feb 26-Mar 2
I started a thread about this the other day - the Prior situation is yet another farce to add to the list.
Now he's gone home, they've pretty much had to rule out the possibility of playing five bowlers in a match they must win.
And they f*cking knew all along that this was a distinct probability when they picked the squad, yet seemed not to consider the implications in the slightest.
It really is unbelievable. Unbelievable.

Given that we need 5 bowlers and a number 6 who can pull his weight with the bat, I'd almost be tempted to just pick 11 and see who wants the gloves!JKLever wrote:Big_Bad_Bob wrote:New baby rules Prior out of 4th Test

Well, you can give up on five bowlers. A sixseven, eight of Ambrose, Broad and Sidebottom is too awful to contemplate. If it's going to be four bowlers, I'd nominate Sidebottom, Broad, Amjad Khan and Swann.
I suspect, however, that they will find a place for W@nkerson

Sad fact is that, whatever the permutation, I just cannot see any combination of England's 4 or 5 bowlers knocking over 20 WIndian wickets in Bridgetown.

I think it's just too bad of Mrs Prior dropping one at a most inconvenient time for England.
A bit like her old man really!

Yep, I've heard that the slip fielders have complained to the management about Priory's eating habits.
oh wait .....
Anyway, didn't think she was going to drop until AFTER the Barbados test ... ... wimmin eh !

Its all going horribly wrong.
We need a draw here, then go to the fifth test with Prior back and hope we can sneak a series draw.

Tim Ambrose FFS. He's worse than Prior. Why wasn't Steven Davies brought on tour? Ambrose ain't up to it, no ****** way.

Davies arrives later this week. Prior junior was not supposed to put in an appearance until the last test.

It's funny; it doesn't seem like 9 months since the Stanford Twenny20 shit-fest.

Prior's to blame for this defeat.
Just getting that in early.

Every catch, drop or bye will be followed by the response, "Prior wouldn't have done that".

No, he's to blame for this draw... we only picked 4 bowlers because Ambrose isn't good enough to bat 6 and two of them bowled absolute pies again, and for all the efforts of the other two we couldn't quite bowl them out twice.Dello wrote:Prior's to blame for this defeat.

That's pretty much the way I expect it to go!

Personally I cannot wait to see JT and Fidel if the wicket is fast, knowing we are just one excellent test match performance away from winning the Wisden Trophy back.

Just you wait- if it's got a bit of pace and bounce in it Harmison will be...
...a slouching, life sapping portrayal of incurable depression.
Anyway I think Ambrose was jettisoned a bit too early- fine with the gloves and batted well against the Kiwis. Sure he was shown up against South Africa's decent pace attack- but so would most batsmen raised in county cricket. At least he hung around a bit like unlike Read who would have curled up into a fetal position and a let out a high pitched primal scream.
Got to give him a chance to learn and improve I say.

His keeping's tripe, he stands too deep and makes difficult catches look like they fell too short. Cheating Aussie skunt. If 97 runs in a series is hanging around then so be it - but he's shite.
Ambrose is the middle ground in the Prior, Foster, Read, whoever debate between batting and keeping - can't bat, can't keep.

Seems like a bit of a generalisation about his keeping- can you tell me what the relative distances stood behind the stumps for current potential England wicketkeepers are to the nearest foot?

I just pray that Windies bring in Baker for Powell and Simmons for Devon Smith.
Yes he held on at the end of the last test etc, but he is in the team as the 3rd fast bowler and he was carp yet again. Baker has taken wickets in the last 2 FC matches he played. He is not fast and is nothing special, but anything is better than Powell and he can hold down the spot until Bravo comes back.
