Looks like the referral system was even more of a farce here than in Joburg.
Also looks like dead pitches will continue to be de rigueur in order to preserve the lead of the Windies in this series.

I just don't know how it is that the only person in the entire world that saw the delivery to Nash over and over again and still thought it was out happened to be sitting in the TV umpire chair.
It's Harper's fault, not that of the "system".

11 wickets in 3 days? This one is headed for a draw.

Think you've got it all wrong OP . . . seems the onfield umpire ignored part of Harper's judgement

Can someone tell me what tac is referring to? Has there been some news to that effect?

OP Tipping wrote:"least we won't have the farce of every batsman who gets given out LBW automatically challenging it"
You only get two incorrect challengers, so there's not much chance of that.
I don't think there's much wrong with the referral system at present: there seems to be a problem with the TV umpire in this match but that's by the by. (Harper and Tiffin involved in the same match ... I don't envy the players.)
"and replays suggesting that some decisions are wrong but not "wrong enough" to overturn."
I don't have a problem with that either. If you really can't be certain from the video evidence, it makes sense to let the original decision stand. We all accept that sometimes an umpire will be a dubious decision but what we want to eliminate is the deadset farkin shocker where someone is given out caught when the ball never passes within a yard of the bat.
I do think that more, and better, fixed cameras would help matters.
Sage.

The pitches in the WIndies recently have mostly been turgid, so I think they're playing as they're supposed to really.

I reckon Mr TV Umpire should only be able to overturn the man in the middle's LBW decision on the basis of whether the ball pitched outside leg and whether the batsman hit it. Anything else and you're guessing...

Clueless D1ck! FFS
He said himself last year that he was no good to England if they wanted an 80 mph line and length merchant, that he needed to play to his strength namely wazzing it down at 90 mph!
So, he bowls 80 mph filth and gets dropped - quel surprise!

He's gone. Strauss should tell him that he needs to bowl his socks off at full pace for Durham or else he wont play for England again. I wouldn't be surprised if he baulks at that idea and announces his international retirement. He'll still pick up wickets for Durham bowling at 80mph.

Sadly, I can see that happening - Harmy has no work ethic.

He's also 31 this year and he's been playing first class cricket for 13 years now. It could well be that the body isn't allowing him to bowl at 90mph anymore.

His head is not allowing him to make the efort.
AD was still getting it down at 90mph well into his 30s

Sarwan is the 12th West Indian player to score 200+ against England and this is the 16th instance since Cliff Roach's 209 at Bourda in February 1930. Sarwan has made the highest score by a West Indian against England since Brian Lara's 400* at St John's in April 2004.
This is the 4th instance of a West Indian double century against England at the Kensington Oval (the others are Clyde Walcott's 220 in March 1954, Gary Sobers' 226 in January 1960 and Lawrence Rowe's 302 in March 1974) surpassing Trent Bridge (3 instances) as the ground where this feat has occurred most often.
8 England players have made 10 scores of 200+ against the West Indies, the first being "Patsy" Hendren's 205* at Port of Spain in February 1930, the most recent being Kevin Pietersen's 226 at Headingley in May 2007. This is the 62nd score of 200 and above against England by all sides since Billy Murdoch's 211 at The Oval in August 1884 and the first since Jayawardene's 213* at Galle in December 2007.

Ramdin gets a let off IMHO. 2 more let offs and we will call it even .
Seriously, the umpiring on and off the field has been carp.

Brian Lara must be feeling very tormented nowadays. I bet he's sat in the ground somewhere trying to put Sarwan off as the bowler runs in. There's no way England are getting him out, so if someone sticks around with him long enough...

They may as well call this one off with a day to go, unless Sarwan wants a crack at that record.
Grounds that produce this kind of game should be banned from hosting Tests for two or three years really. Same goes at the opposite extreme i.e. over in three days, although it's a while since we've seen any like that!

England could still lose from here so I wouldn't call it off just yet.
God, how bad are we that I actually fear we might lose from here! I don't even mean a lingering doubt, more a genuine fear we could lose it!
Suffice it to say that if we do, there'll be death. Lots of death. Mostly inflicted by me but not exclusively, I'm sure.
