SG wrote:Here is what Butt has to say,
Surprisingly, perhaps, given just how much Pakistan have been dominated, Butt chose to criticise umpiring decisions as one of the reasons for the situation. "There have been a few decisions where I feel we were unlucky. I think [Mohammad] Yousuf was not out yesterday and when you get one such decision against your premier batsman it does affect you."
A recurrence of an elbow injury to Mohammad Asif compounded a miserable day for Pakistan. Already burdened with a light, unbalanced attack, Asif left the field after bowling only four overs leaving Pakistan with three frontline bowlers, two of whom are spinners.
"We're missing Asif now, but the plan was to prepare spinning wickets," Butt said. "Maybe our spinners didn't bowl to expectations.
Was Yousuf unlucky in his 1st innings?
He may have been, but so was Boucher in the 1st innings of the 1st Test.

Hang on, are you saying that getting a bad decision is just random?! That anyone could get one at any time?bliksem wrote:He may have been, but so was Boucher in the 1st innings of the 1st Test.
Not sure how it's possible to work a conspiracy theory into that sort of idea.

They give random bad decisions against the other teams so that when they purposely give them against the Asian teams it isn't as noticeable. A bit of 'camouflage' if you will.

Saf have score 3 runs in 6 overs - are they trying to set a target or what?

No, they'll be joint 3rd with 107 points alongwith Ind and SL, if they win this series 2-0. Eng is still comfortably placed at no.2 with 111 points.Saffies back up to 2nd in the rankings perhaps?

Surely there is a better opener in Pakistan than Akmal.

Kallis now averages 57.10. Up from 56.39.
His strike rate has gone up too. From 43.06 to 43.12.
31 not outs.

Looks like Pak are going for it.
They require another 306 runs in 78 overs, with 9 wickets in hand.

Of course, they have to go for it . . . an absolute no-brainer. Is holding on for a draw but losing the series 1-0 of any value at all?

Last 10 overs have been relatively quite, Paul Harris has pulled things back quite a bit, 13 overs for 16 runs.

If they can get it down to around 200-220 runs in 50 overs with 7 or 8 wickets in hand, then you expect the Paksters to pull this out of the fire.

A 0-1 loss is always better than a 0-2 loss, especially for a captain in his debut series.tac wrote:Of course, they have to go for it . . . an absolute no-brainer. Is holding on for a draw but losing the series 1-0 of any value at all?

Nonsense. A loss is a loss. Only a fool would not risk the 2-0 loss in an effort to draw the series. Or is this a "cultural" difference?
