Yay! Another one on the bandwagon. This has got to make the glossary at the next revision.

NZ 'A' collapse from 385-3 to 430 all out. Mark Davies 4-54 off 29 overs...

May as well give Davies a go next summer. The pitch was flat but he kept toiling away.

He's an 80mph merchant likely to do reasonably well on home wickets I suppose but probably would get carted overseas...
His FC record is amazing though - 227 wickets @ 21.03
The fact that he is 28 and has only played 67 FC games tells you all you need to know about his fitness record

Yeah, let's get him in on the back of one match on an A tour where he did all right.
Interestingly, in the two warm-up games before this "Test" he didn't take a single wicket.
Don't suppose you were calling for his elevation to the senior team then...

Yeah, about time.
Think I recall Napes playing for England A 6 or so years ago.... wonder if that's the longest gap between 'A' appearances?

JK:
True.
I was just shocked (all right - very mildly surprised) you came out with unequivocal backing for the merits of an Essex man at last.
i.e. You often seem a bit reluctant to give Big Al, Bops or indeed Jamie Foster therir due. Both (and perhaps all three) potential stars, despite shortcomings, I think.
Again - just a view.
And tbh I guess I am the same about Lanky talent - such as it is. Jimmy, Saj - no rose-tinted backstages there!

Yep. Simon Francis. Formerly of Hants. Left them for the bright lights of Somerset, where he has proceeded to vanish off the face of the earth @ 41 runs per wicket.
His younger brother Jon - considered a real prospect as a batsman - also walked out on Hampshire for the BLOS (and their easy-paced batting track), insisting that he'd fulfill his potential in such surroundings.
Played twice for Somerset last season: 70 runs @ 23

Wasn't Shaftab Khalid picked for the A side purely on the basis that he could bowl some sort of doosra? Every second kid in Pakistan can bowl one....

Maybe when you watch players regularly on TV from your side you notice potential weaknesses more? Cookie,Bops.Fozzie & Napes are all very talented cricketers. But they are mostly slapping Div 2 attacks about. They really could have done with a higher level of FC cricket - which is perhaps where my muted regional tournament would help...

Was this the same group that couldn't stop some state side in India racking up 500 to win for the loss of 4 wickets? Think Simon Jones played in that game too.

He was definitely a left-field pick from Rod Marsh, as he had barely played a game for Worcs. Bacchus obviously saw something about him he liked, but we've never really found out what.
From memory, I think you're right - there was some kind of talk of a doosra.

Lesson learned: James Tredwell won't bowl you to victory even on a final-day dust-bowl.
And it looks like Simon Jones cried off injured halfway through.
Hard to believe...

We let him go 2/3 years ago: F/knows what he's doing now. Still we've got the mighty Battster and Ian Fisher to skittle sides out this season.
