Re: Ban Bradman!
But yes, many threads on such unfortunate events and incidents have shown up the majority of forummers to be hypocrites, atleast to an extent. People don't seem to appreciate black humour when it is about something that they really feel deeply about.

After going through a couple of other threads, I see what you fellas mean. Bradman is real mean.

No, not at noon! I just like talking to myself. I'm the only person I seem to be able to have sane, rational conversations with.

Why ban someone just for showing very clearly how they think?

Can someone give me edited highlights of Bradman's wrongdoing? From what I've read it just seems like some challenging moral relativism. Ho hum.

Said some crap about did Murali get his bowling arm hurt in the shootings - rather insensitive & crass given people lost their lives but not exactly banworthy. Does come accross as a bit of a twat however....
Apparently if you didn't think of Muralis bent arm when you first heard of the shootings this makes you un-Australian. Thank fark for that then.

I'd say the (un)bent arm quip was the innocent bit. The cloud mushroomed after that.
Tom - basically, if you are interested (FWIW), read the non-Wally thread (there are two) on the attack in Pakistan - and also the thread about the Sri Lankans heading home immediately. Should give you a decent basis for your own views, whatever they may be.

... And then Dem waded in with some of her "observations" which were then backed up by taips which were then challenged by tac and deemed tasteless by TO before Trev finally gave up on his attempts at having Bradders banned .... well .... so far anyway !
Mushroomed .... as Petey suggested ... on the back of some crass remarks!

Bradman's comments were tasteless an not in the least bit funny, but it's absurd to call for him to be banned. If everyone on here who had ever made a tasteless comment was red-carded, you would be left with Dello and Spongedogsquareleg.
Just put Bradman, or anyone else you find beyond the pale, on ignore.

Oh wow this is mega-prime mentalism:
"Been there done that dickhead. Got the tee-shirt, don't really give a rat's arse. When the world's largest democracy (excuse me while I choke) can start working out what democracy means we'll play ball ball.
In the meantime if you're shitty little navy threatens Australia, along with China. here's a newsflash.
Sort your big ****** democracy out before you even think you can actually be players on a world stage.
Here's a hint. We don't hide behind democracy when we exclude anyone we don't feel like.
And by the way we could smoke Delhi before you even knew the aircraft were in the air."
Beats the cr*p out of people going without oranges & bananas because of the Nazis.

Murali's arm did involuntarily cross my mind when I heard about the attack. Does that make me Australian?

Mr Wizard - reassure me you ARE joking.
"smoke" = blanket-bomb and reduce to a burning hell.
I'm wondering if Bradman is a Multiple ID for someone more familiar, and used only when on particularly aggressive drugs.

I would call the hypocrisy shown by a few posters startling if I haven't gotten used to it by now.
Skip around gently in the Australian bush fires thread, why don't you. When it comes to death and destruction in other places, why we're all tough and should have a sense of humour.
F*ck you.
YAY FURRI...one of the few to make some sense in the past 24 hours...
I think qm3 brought some perspective to the debate...he with all of us condemn the lunatic behaviour of the taliban/hindu nationalists/tigers...suspect qm3 has seen some very dire things in his time on earth...variously he has implied that death at the hand of humans is everywhere and is equally terrible...
being at the end of a smart bomb, an ersatz bomb, indiscriminate strafing is all the same for the dying human organism and their surviving friends and rellos...the dismal condemnation of the Stanland Govt by other posters really misses the point...

Of course I was Petey ... my reference was a tongue firmly in cheek play on the macho George Dubya-esque swaggering "we're gonna smoke you, you sunsabritches" scenario.
And as Emu pointed out, TF Aus have no nuclear capability!
Nah, re. the multiple ID, 'tis not Brass Monkey shurley!

Well quite. The first thought I had when I heard there had been an attack on the SL players bus killing 5 police was whether Muralis arm was unharmed. Not.
Clearly have my head up my arse.
I didn't say "first thought" ...and if you are denying that at some stage you didn't have a similar thought or get some degree of humour when you read the comment then you clearly DO have your head up your arse

I think there's a line.
And there's also a matter of timing. Kevin Bloody Wilson doesn't get invited to delivery eulogies.
