would it be 'un-australian' not to have that thought?
Well quite. The first thought I had when I heard there had been an attack on the SL players bus killing 5 police was whether Muralis arm was unharmed. Not.
Clearly have my head up my arse.
I didn't say "first thought" ...and if you are denying that at some stage you didn't have a similar thought or get some degree of humour when you read the comment then you clearly DO have your head up your arse
The Murali comments can be taken either way . . . personally I didn't think them over the top, but can see how people might. However, I think Bradders did get a bit "weird" with some of the stuff posted later . . . .

Or I don't have a chuck fixation perhaps? Yeah, about as funny as those 'Princess Diana was on the radio, and on the dashboard, and on the windscreen' jokes.... funny after the event, but not on the same day as several people died.
Slap my backside and make my head pop out.

I would call the hypocrisy shown by a few posters startling if I haven't gotten used to it by now.
Skip around gently in the Australian bush fires thread, why don't you. When it comes to death and destruction in other places, why we're all tough and should have a sense of humour.
F*ck you.
YAY FURRI...one of the few to make some sense in the past 24 hours...
I think qm3 brought some perspective to the debate...he with all of us condemn the lunatic behaviour of the taliban/hindu nationalists/tigers...suspect qm3 has seen some very dire things in his time on earth...variously he has implied that death at the hand of humans is everywhere and is equally terrible...
being at the end of a smart bomb, an ersatz bomb, indiscriminate strafing is all the same for the dying human organism and their surviving friends and rellos...the dismal condemnation of the Stanland Govt by other posters really misses the point...
Be careful, furri. Get ****** horrie's endorsement is not something you'd want on your CV.

Re: Ban Bradman!
Oh come on, it was funny. A bomb or a bullet denting Murali's elbow and straightening out his arm and action (maybe causing him a bit of pain in the process). It's a win-win, as long it doesn't hurt too much. Murali wins, cricket wins, we win because we find it funny. But maybe the terrorists win too, thereby making the whole world lose. Now I don't know what I'm saying. But it was a bit funny, atleast. For a moment, atleast. If not, your nucleus accumbens is wired up all wrong.

How about not hours after the event? It's no big deal anyway, I wasn't the one calling for his banning. It's all this un-australian bollocks which is frankly, a load of bollocks.

Re: Ban Bradman!
FFS it was an un-australian who brought up the "un-australian bullocks" and another un-australian carried it on. Nobody else called the behaviour un-australian.
It was a serious question btw. Just in case I think up a line, I don't want to be the subject of forum derision.

almost as a rule I have found Pinky posts to unfailingly be on topic, erudite on matters cricket and condition humane...as with all of us I heartily support Pinky's application for his next position, be that as a check-out laddy at McDonalds or CEO of General Motors

I wonder if Buckaroo made such a joke half the forum would have announced ignoring him already.
a fellow whitey making such a crude joke doesn't register as high on fellow forumites shock level I presume ?

OK, skully and trev's comments 2-3 posts above this have messed up the impression of causality I had in my mind until now.

"a fellow whitey "
It's not clear to me why you feel that the use of racist abuse is helpful at this time.
